"Sign up or see ya later" ????

On a daily basis i see more GUEST then MEMBERS on TST and i started to wonder if TST limits how many threads a guest can look at before it says,
"sign up or see ya later" i know other forums have this feature and i am just curious what the TST view on this subject is...personally i really dont care, but i would rather see more members logged in and less guest.....What do you think???

hm..Im kind of indifferent towards it. I think the TsT member count can be cleaned up a little though. If you go through the library, its just a TON of noobs that have 0 post counts and stuff. But as for your idea, that may be a good way to up the legit member count. Maybe suspend an account if left untouched for a month or 2.

The guests aren't all actual 'guests' I asked this same question a couple weeks ago and one of the moderators pointed out that it was actually a search engine bot or something crawling the site.

Yea. I agree with the member count. There are way to many unused names out there.

For the most part I only sign on to post or view the garbage bin. Besides that I'm a guest unless I'm on my laptop which remembers me. I hate signing in on every computer lab computer everytime.

the guests are sometimes search bots? how creepy. but i do agree, after the sonic meet there was like 90 guests viewin the gallery and what not...and to this day i still see 90 easily. seriously, i hope its not the same 90 or look around and never sign up, whats the big deal? u pick a username and give an email and ur in...

BUT

i think tst is due for some disk cleanup....there r 7500 members easily, and i can count on two hands how many ppl actually post.

I think all the inactive accounts need to be deleted. For real.

Keep the people that were a big part of the site from the beginning that don't really post anymore but the countless people with 0-4 posts need to go.

while i wont argue that people who dont post or who are inactive for a prolonged period(except for the TST originators) should have their memberships deleted, i was more thinking about lurkers who may view the site on a regular basis but never sign up....at least the ppl who sign up and never post signed up

i've been saying this for the last year and a half about how they should delete inactive members. less than 5 posts & haven't been on for 2 months (unless they have other circumstances as to why they haven't been on)

Maybe the deleted usernames can be held in a database so that way if there was a reason for them being inactive, they dont have to start over again. maybe hold their name for an additional 3 months? That database shouldnt count towards the total member count either.

Um, guys, who cares? So 7500 people signed up, why bother deleting names and such, it doesn't affect you anyway!? That's just a lot of unneccessary work for the mods, with no real benefit.
