trying to see whats out there in the tri-state area for smaller venues like Northstar... more interested in places that tend towards the rock and alternative genre

also looking to see what lesser known bands are out there... this commercial **** is driving me bananas

I was actually going to suggest North Star. It's a sweet spot, I wish there were more like it.

i know there has got to be more...

how about non-local bands that kick ass and aren't well known?

all obviously very different... i keep running into stuff on Sirius and Pandora.com but i keep forgetting names... i need to keep a note pad with me or something.

really looking to find new stuff not on the radio... real music, and hopefully some relatively local places to see some stuff

Radio 104.5 recently had the Silver Sun Pickups do an "Unplugged" sort of session, and they sounded pretty decent live-ish. Danko Jones sounds awesome, thanks for the link.

i've seen danko jones at the North Star... ammmaaaazing band to see in person. they don't tour much at all in the states though

they're playing out in pittsburgh late next month and i'm very much considering getting a hotel room friday/saturday and heading out to see them again
