Help with laptop (HDD) problem

Hey everyone my laptop (HP DV6500) stopped working. It will power up, sometimes the screen will come on, sometimes it won't. It will never fully boot up. I can't get into the safe mode when it does. I got into the setup menu and ran a HDD diagnostic and it said replace hard disk. I opened it up, and took a look at the hard drive. My question is, when I opened it up, the hard drive wasn't really sitting flush in the slot. Does anyone know if its supposed to be angled a little bit? I don't want to force it down in there but it does doesn't look like its sitting right. If its not suppsed to be like that, I'm assuming that's why its acting the way it is. If it is supposed to be like that, I'm assuming I need a new hard drive, correct? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

It should be sitting flush. Pull it out... make sure nothing is underneath it and try putting it back in.

Also, this may be a dumb question.....but I also have an Acer AspireOne netbook. Should I try and put the hard drive into that and see if it works? I'm not sure if that's possible, but figured it could be worth a shot. Thanks!

That won't work unless you plan on formatting it and reinstalling windows

Hmm ok, figured I'd ask. Thank you. I can't seem to get it to sit flat in there. It seems like it might be flush with the bottom but I can't really tell.

Did yours sit a little angled in there?
