Thats right, Wireless electricity.

http://www.ted.com/talks/eric_giler_...ectricity.html

Thought up about tesla a long time ago. I just hope this idea goes if full force as It is a great idea.

I personally hate power cords.. especially all the different kinds for usually something similar I.E. Cellphones.

He demos a TV and cellphones chargeing wirelessly.

wouldnt that shock people as they walked by? like static electricity? seems cool though, id love to charge my phone without plugging it in. it would be easier to steal electric from your neighbor lol.

for the cell phone it would be sick, you dont have to set your phone down or take it out of your pocket to charge it. i wonder how many years this will take to be available.

There are a few devices which use a weak version of this. The Palm Pre was probably the first mass produced electonic to sport this feature!

The idea is absolutely nothing new (going back to the 1800's), but MIT developed one of the first possible safe uses of it. Even that was about 3 years ago. I remember just over 3 years ago, one of the contractors asked if we could add an outlet to a kitchen island without doing any damage or adding nay pillars, on a concrete slab. Obviously the answer was no, and he jokingly said, "can't you just beam it over there"? We laughed, but sure enough, the next week, MIT made their big announcement of how they had a conceivable method for wireless electricity.

There are currently a bunch of products that use the inductive charging pads as well, but we are a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG way out from having an approved, reliable wireless 120v electricity that beams throughout a structure.

wireless electricity. AKA lightning.

good idea for low voltage, but for anything that pulls a considerable amount of amps (like an appliance) would be etremely difficult. The initial pull of electricity needed to start something we normally plug into an outlet (like a tv) is more than the amount it takes to rn once it's on. That would be the difficult part.
