so i test drove the genesis 2.0 t

test drove the new hyundai genesis 2.0 base model
here are some PROS and CONS
PROS
base model has many standard features like bluetooth, mp3 capable cd player, projector headlamps, auto headlights, system info screen, and the seats were really driver friendly and has a sporty feel to them
CONS
weighs 4255 without driver thats what it said inside of the door
210 hp doesnt really make the car move and actually feels slower than my civic si
when u hit boost it doesnt really put u back in ur seat
transmission was smooth but felt like it can break easy
cheap lookin pedals
im 5'10 and my head hit the ceiling in the backseat so i had to sit with my head hung over the whole time like a hunch back as my friend test drove it lol

overall i wouldnt pay 24k for this and the price should be around 18-20k

4255 isn't what the car ways. That is the gross vehicle weight which is what the car can handle fully loaded. many people make the mistake of thinking that is the weight of the car.

Most stock turbo cars especially one off the showroom floor wont put you back in your seat. Couple bolt-on's and a tune and the car will probably run real strong so it's not something i'd worry about.

yea 4255 sounds more like the GAW aka gross axle weight aka how much weight the axles can be loaded.

the EVO X stock didn't wow me either but after a few simple bolt-ons that picked up 100 whp on that same 4B11T motor it was a pretty impressive street car. The Genesis DEFINITELY weighs less than the X and I'm sure the RWD effect is gonna make it a great little coupe after some mods...

the downpipe and exhausts are ridiculously restricting to the turbo. There's a crushpoint on the exhaust for some reason. a turboback and tune will definitely put you against the seat.

no stock turbo cars in it's class range (wrx, srt4, cobalt ss, gti, mini s) will put you against the seat and feel that quick at all until you get some minor bolt-ons and a tune. it makes a massive difference in these cars. all of them were detuned to meet emissions and market standards but little things can quickly change that.

i think the gti's wrx's ss's are soo much quicker and faster compared to this stock for stock but im not bashing or hating on the genesis its just not worth the tag

the 2.0t isnt marketed to be in the same catagory as the gti ss or wrxs performance wise...its really just marketed to be the lower level model of the genesis coupe.

ummmm it's a 3300 lbs car with 210-215whp it's power to weight is about the same as an si......

and how does a tranmission feel like it's going to break?

gti's are pathetically slow. i think 24K for a 210rwhp sport couple isn't bad. mugen si's go for well over 33K....rsx's were 26K after everything was said and done. i don't tihink this car is overpriced at all...considering interior quality and the power you get. exhaust, mbc, tune and i would expect nice numbers out of it

My MR2 at 200hp and 3000lbs (with me in it) puts me in the seat... then again it is MR... nevermind.

i'd like to see what they do with some breather mods. Kinda like what JnZ did with the Evo X

180 bone stock is rare for a stock si

i was pointing out that the thing is damn near 3000 lbs and makes 170 hp vs 3300 lbs and and a proven 215hp and even more tq. you just make it sound like this car is a huge letdown compared to the si. it's a rwd turbo car with a good motor and will most likely respond very well to mods i'm sure if honda gave the si rwd and a turbo they'd charge alot more than 24K

so much for the genesis "feeling" slower than the civic SI. they're dead even at the quarter mile. 0-60 is also similar.
although having a stock turbo with a motor that can handle boost, the genesis has much more potential for the money. turboback and tune definitely will get the 2.0t hanging with it's V6 variant.
