2009 Dragracer's Thread

I know we have a lot of guys who hit the strip, so I figured I'd get a thread started to see what everyone is planning, goals that are set, and of course... times that we post.

Also can use this thread to give a heads up when you're heading out to the strip for some company, etc etc etc.

I'll start by posting up my goals for this season now that I'll actually be able to get out to the strip more often for some seat time.

Last year I took the car to Maple Grove on street tires. I ran a laughable 14.1 @ 115. It was about 95* in the middle of July, and I never got the car back out so this year I'm hoping to redeem myself a bit lol. 24.5x8x13 MTs should help.

I'm looking for no slower than 10.99 with the 1.6L SOHC. May not happen this year but I'm gonna try like hell. Car is getting gutted out and getting a 6pt this spring hopefully along with some interior redesigning. Would like to get her down to about 2200.

Hoping to make it out to Atco in April when things start to warm up a bit. Probably just pump gas runs trying to get into 11s.

So let's hear it, I know there are a lot of drag only cars on this forum and I know many of you like to go to the strip just to have some fun.

If all goes well, I would like to run 10.99@135 on a 20g. I think I need a tuning genius for that though.

I am running points at Maple Grove's bracket racing series like every year with my camaro. I will be running street eliminator class and you can only run as fast as 11.50. Well my camaro runs 11.60s in good weather. Trying to bring the front end back down quicker than it does now so it stops creating drag. Anyways trying to get it just a little closer to 11.50 so no roll bar. I will be hitting up a few more 10k and 5k dollar races as well this year. Hope to win points championship as well this year.

Unfortunately my car may only get slower.. I have been adding weight and luxury items like nav, stereo, alarm, ect. to my car which is already a pig at 3400lbs..I want to so wheels/tires/suspension this year so my turbo may be on hold..My goal on the stock (evo 8) turbo and 6 speed is the same as last year, 11.49, so far I have only been able to hit 11.6@119 shifting to 5th, but I have hit 97mph in the 1/8th which is a much better indication of power since I have a 6 speed...Mabye I will swap in an evo9 turbo at least. If I can cut a low 1.6 I think I should hit my goal but I just roast all 4 through 1st unfortunately I am hoping to borrow slicks from a fellow kind member at least once

Mike there is 21 races in the points series. Usually happens 3 or 4 times a month. Class I run in you have to be on a DOT approved street tire with at least a certain amount of tread. Can't remember. Have to have muffers as well. It's what occupies most of my weekends.

Want to get my car together and running awesome on my new DTA S80 Pro management, 1150cc injectors and pick up NX Progressive controller for my nitrous, and maybe swap in a lower rate wastegate spring. I think I need to pick up another Weld Pro star for my BMW and get my M/T remounted. I want to rip up the street for a bit and then bring her out to the track once I get my Kirkley seats in.

I may be running more t&t at the grove now that I live pretty close to there.

Also if anyone in this thread needs to corner balance their car let me know. I got a set of bad ass scales.

We went to a T&T at Maple Grove and got one run in all day after waiting from 8 to 2pm. Very disappointing. It wasn't very crowded, they just kept running the "hot" cars and bikes all day We brought a tubbed 4 link '91 3 Series we were trying to dial in

What car are you running again? Black EG coupe? I always get so confused with who's running what when I'm on HT.

Goals for this year on the 2.3L are 10.30-10.40 on pump gas (no meth) and 9.99 on race gas. I previously ran 11.1 on the stock 2.0L on pump gas.

Lots of quick rides getting built this winter...should be a fun race season!

What turbo, Chris? Still on the HTA 35r or did you upgrade?

My build, comparing to other less setup cars and tuner estimates should be around 10.20-10.50 all day. Hopefully she holds together and all the bugs are worked out fast because I plan on hitting most of these events.
