Intakes...what to do

Alright right now I have a stock intake system, so I am debating either installing a K&N drop-in filter. Will the drop-in give me any decent sound? I know it wont do much for the performance aspect, but my buddy has an ebay CAI on his 96 accord v6 and when he gets on the throttle it sounds like a G35 exhaust. Where will I see a bigger gain.

No..make it!

Drop ins are better than stock, but ideally you want a CAI setup.

I wouldn't bother... Intake on any 4 cylinder really isn't worth much, but then again I am really not the honda guru you should be speaking to about this. You will gain like 3-4 HP and it will make a nice little noise after about 5k RPM before you hit redline. If I were you, I would just go with a drop in filter and leave it at that. Intakes cost way too much and aren't worth the price::performance ratio.

I am gonna have to disagree with you on that one. I am not exactly sure of what the power gains are on installing a CAI on your average civic are but on integras and most other cars I have come across (especially NA car's) CAI's have the best price to performance gains ratio out of almost any other mod.

i put a short ram intake on my mazda 6. heat soak doesnt seem to bother me at all. But holy **** my throttle response has improved and it has a very aggressive sound especially at 4k-5k rpms. Its a rather easy install nad no chance of hydrlock. sri ftw

Thats what I tell everyone to do, no need to pay $100 for an intake...

I had a short ram on my CRX when it was all stock and it screamed, once I put and exhaust on it was quieter but dam it was loud, don't look for any serious power gains from it, maybe some throttle response and definately louder...

I like Rays idea the best

Snail FTW! I cant afford one though. Intake is going to sound beastly, and throttle response should be better, and thats mainly all i expect to get. I want to get stiffer suspention bushings, i already got the short shifter, want to tighten up my steering, just make the car feel more sporty.

yea a short ram would be ideal for throttle response.. at low RPM's and the aggressive sound. and CIA for also deacent throttle responce, and an aggressive sound at higher RPM's. so just go with the CIA. and switch it up whenever you want..

my suggestion would be the CAI, if your going to upgrade your filter you mind as well go all the way with it. If you dont want to pay $250 for the intake then get the ebay one like you said, cant really go wrong for $40 if it breaks then put your factory one back on
