Engine stays the same. After I get as-is dyno numbers after break in at 12lbs, I'll be getting a downpipe and tuning my SAFC to run 14 or 15lbs hopefully.

Not really much I want to do other than that.

When I get a wideband, the EGT goes by by. I pulled the gauge off the dash tonight when I dropped it at the shop (so it wouldnt draw attention and/or get stolen) and it looked a lot nicer haha. Not to mention it's not even hooked up as it sits now so I don't really need it.

You should consider throwing ARP headstuds in there and a decent headgasket, too, that way you don't lift the head when you get boost happy. Hope it turns out well for you, man.

Yeah it's all on the list. Once the motor comes out and apart, we start to see where the weaknesses are.

Only thing you might want to get from the aftermarket is a head gasket. The head studs are fine. I've never seen a single 3sgte lift the head.

Thats crazy. I've raced with the boost spiking well above 18lbs and my motors been fine (Almost perfect compression). Also, the stock computer does run pig rich under boost, so do you think the problem could have been your safc tune?

BTW if you need a hand I'd be happy to help you out. I'm John the super tall kid you met at the marshals meet

Commetic HGs seem to be popular, but you might want to ask on the OC to see peoples recommendations.

This is one of those 3sgte myths. Everyone always assumes they will be rich no matter what. The truth is that there are several things that can make your lean under boost. One is the AFM. I have seen many AFM's send out very incorrect air flow signals to the ecu. Two is ecu. JDM ecus are tuned a lot leaner and more aggressively then USDM ones. And finally, he has a ct20b. That turbo actually has the potential to outflow the stock 440cc injectors.

On my own 3s, I normally have to run positive safc corrections to keep my a/f ratio in check on the ct26 with a jdm ecu. His safc wasn't even hooked up and he has a bigger turbo.

I'm just going off of the top of my car knowledge base of DSMs, so I thought it might be worth mentioning. Thanks for the insight, Art.

I'm hoping to drive the car to Sonic. Even if I'm still in the break in period, I want to drive it.

After we did the compression test, I pulled out the plug wire on no2 while it was idleing and the idle didn't change one bit. Quite a funny thing to see, and confirms the comp test results.

Let me know when work begins, Dan. I wanna stop by the shop and see the carnage as well as your new short block. You are a very wise man for going that route!
When I was over at Dan's we were doing some trouble shooting. It was weird, when the car started up it ran just fine with no issues, idled ok, no real problems. We took it down the street and the car just started breaking up horribly, missing like crazy. Zero smoke out of the tailpipe though, it was clean as a whistle. Hence my coil conclusion, Dan texted me a few days later telling me what was up and I felt pretty ****ty about it.

Dan I hope you can get that thing back together soon pal.

But yeah, Dan, when it warms up a bit I think we should redo all of your electronics. SAFC, gauges, etc etc etc. Probably one of the reasons why this happened.
