Race tow hooks on modded daily driver: dumb or not?

So you did your standard performance and visual mods to your daily commuter. You spent $ to make it look somehwat unique, the question is how far is too far before you look like a cheesy poser PepBoys tin can?
I dropped my lgt 2 inches. With a front lip spoiler and new low clearance it would be a pain to get under there if i ever had to get pulled. All recent meets I've been at have rides with the race hooks on them. Aside from looking nice it seems like it's a lot more practical to just reach down and hook into them whenever necessary. I will likely never take it to a track.
Is this a retarded idea? Poll.

I personally know someone who was injured and put out of work from tripping over one and dislocating his knee while working on a car that had a tow hook. I vote no.

Putting tow hooks you won't use is like paying for a hooker and no banging her.

What is the difference between a race tow hook and a non race tow hook? Are they hooked up to a wench differently or something?

Unless you are constantly loading your car up on a trailer through a winch, then no.

Tow hooks make it easier for people to steal your car. Plus how many times does your car break down that you need a tow?

I was gonna talk about a certain incident with a tow hook but Brandon already covered it.

I think they're dumb and an eyesore, really.

these are all valid and effin hillarious. needless to say that's not happening for my car. but just to keep the funny going, why then bother doing anything to your car unless you're racing it? all the visual mods are then retarded too, right. no offense to anyone here, but all the local meets have cars riced out and i'm pretty sure few of them get track time..

Visual mods such as? You should elaborate for the sake of discussion.

As for the racing hook specifically... What if some person tripped over it in the parking lot and broke a bone? Sounds like it could be a liability.

you can twist words if you'd like but no one said you can only do things to your car if you are racing it - the point made was to put things necessary for cars made for racing on daily drivers is silly - case in point; wings :D.

i don't like the term "riced out" so i don't know what you mean by that. there are some beautiful looking cars out there with some wacky things done to them that make some people hate them, and some people love them... that's just life

the things i do to my car all serve a purpose... i want to drive fast so i do things to drive fast, some people are into the car show scene so they do things wild and vivid/bright or go for certain looks.

i gotta go get lunch or i'd continue rambling...

The only reasons I had one in the front of my Miata was because:
A) It didn't protrude from the bumper.
B) I saw a lot of track time with it.
C) There was no easy on and off with the hook--unlike the kind that screw into the tow hook port of many newer cars
& D) Most people didn't know it was there.

The car came with two up front and I had two rear ones that I had to remove when I attached my trailer hitch that I connected my bar to so could haul race tires to and from the track. The hitch then became a tow point--not that I ever needed it.
