I agree, he was just trying to enjoy it, it's better than just garaging it to me.

something that people overlook is the that the IRS considers the car income, so the taxes end up being more than most people make in a year. There would be almost no financial way that a 'joe schmo' could afford to keep the car.

If I were him I would have had a cage installed, put on a fire suit and helmet and totaled the mess out of that thing. Would have left skid marks longer than Ryan Dunn.

Also would have tripled my life insurance just in case pops didn't make it home to the six kids.

Who wrecks a Lambo under 60mph?? weak.

Let's play: "How much does it cost to replace a front bumper and oil pan on a 200,000$ Lambo!"

My guess: More then most cars on this site are worth in total. So by our standards you could call the car totaled.

Lol these aren't parts you are going to your local junk yard for.

"Hi, Italy? I broke one of your Lambos, I can has new oil pan and bumper?"

by your standards the parts cost more than your car is worth, so the lambo is wrecked and deserving of a rebuilt title? that's not entirely how it works. maybe if you had to pay it out of pocket you might consider a won vehicle like this a loss and sell it. but it's still not wrecked. the cost of repairs certainly doesnt equate to more than whatever percentage of the vehicle cost the insurance company would deem the vehicle a loss.

While the expense of the individual parts is extremely expensive, the overall cost of the car more than makes up for the cost of an oil pan and rear bumper.

It would have to cost over 150K in repairs to total the car.

I didn't mean it like that but I also didn't make it entirely clear what I was trying to say. Sorry.

By Lambo standards, it's not wrecked not at all, but by our standards of what the cost is to fix it, compared to over total cost of our cars, the car would be totaled. Not sure if I am making sense but it sounds right in my head! Lol.

Also how much do you think a car getting messed up like this affects the resale value? 200,000$ car becomes a ???,???$ car because of this.

I think I get it, but not totally sure lol.

As for resale value, I've talked to a few Mercedes body techs who have had to fix wrecked 350+K Mercedes cars that had been flipped, rolled, smashed to the firewall, etc... because cost of repairs wasn't enough to total the car. They sometimes have to cut entire sections of cars off and reweld new parts on.

It wouldn't have a rebuilt title, because it was never salvaged. So basically he could post it up for sale and say it was involved in a minor fender bender and you'd never know.

You must be short bus to think that 10% of damage will total anything... even in your mind.

What are you talking about? I never said that. Let me get hypothetical here for a second to try and explain what I meant to say:

200,000$ Lambo needs new bumper and oil pan + labor and paint= let's just say 25,000$ (I have no idea the cost I am just saying).

By the cars we drive, if we had 25,000$ worth of damage our cars would be totaled, or another way of saying it, the cost of that bumper and that oil pan exceeds the value of a lot of cars on the forum.

That's the point I was trying to make. I never said 10% damage to a car would mean it was totaled.

And you leave my short bus alone! It's easier to drive and doubles as a home when the rest of my vehicles bleed me dry from modding them!
