My WRX was back in the dealer the day after I bought it due to check engine lights. It needed a new MAF sensor.
I had to take my wife's toyota highlander back the day after we bought it because of a bad vibration. New motor mount. My dad bought a 50K cadillac STS. The doorlocks didn't work two days after it left the lot. My father in law went back and forth to the dealership within the 1st month because his Buick Lesabre kept flashing the highbeams and DRL's on and off by itself. My brother bought an Infiniti FX45 and had ABS and brake lights flashing on the dashboard a few days after he bought it. New cars are hastily assembled by machines or by underpaid workers who could really give a rats ass. Usually if something is wrong, you'll find out as soon as you get the car. Then the car manufacturer should fix it under warranty and you should be on the way. Its actually quite common, at lease in my experiences.

I like it, but I think that the GT looks better b/c of the fogs...And 450 HP is not that impressive. I mean, The GTO is producing 400 and I am SURE that the Shelby name is gonna cost more than the GTO.
The Z06 will also trash this car. I am not impressed at all. By 2007 the new Stang will lost its Nestouge (spelling), and will be like the current mustangs...very common!

Well, I don't think that you should compare the Z06 to the 'stang. I think the stang's competition is more alone the lines of the GTO, Evo & STi. The Z06 is more in the league of the Viper, 911, and Ford GT.
On a little different note: I think that Chevy should have a statement car. Ford has the GT. Dodge has the Viper. Porsche has the Carerra GT. Cars that stand atop that respective companies line-ups. Chevy has the vette, but they are so commonplace that they have lost their luster so to speak. I would love to see a supercar from Chevy. Something produced in limited numbers, and with an outrageous body and ridiculous power.

I'm with Muddy ^^
I'd love to see a purpose built chevy track car, a la the Ford GT, Carrerra GT, et al. Having said that...450hp is nothing to sneeze at, especially in the new chasis. Sure, it's not Viper territory, but look at what people are doing with the 03 Cobras - this is rated at just 60hp more from a displacement increase of .8 liters, with lots of room for improvement. Having mentioned the chasis...the new mustangs put down the power about a million percent more effectively than the older cars (fox chasis based) and I don't think that the 450hp will be a "rated at" 450, it's likely that the power you'll see at the wheels will in fact be very close to 450. A new pulley on the s/c, exhaust, retuned & chipped, and drag radials...and you'd have a beast on the street that would put down with the z06's and the like. What do I know, I just love fast cars ~Brad

Yeah but the Z06 will still out handle the Mustang. I do agree I like the fact that it's that easy to make more power. Imagine a Supercharger or Turbo on a Z06. 700hp doesn't really seem out of the ?.

No doubt either the C5 or C6 Z06 vette will outhandle a mustang cobra or the new GT-500 stock for stock. How much more does a a Z06 cost than an SVT mustang? 20k-25k more. Its like comparing the Srt-4 to a terminator. They are both great deals for the money but one is outclassed by the other. Something about the new GT-500 body style doesnt look mean enough. The front end is ok but somewhere after the B-pillar it gets boring. And not impressed with 450hp stock? With minimal modifications it will be keeping pace with most super cars. We will have to wait and see.

New mustang is ****ing gorgeous. I always had a thing for classic mustangs, and my first car was a 70 mach1.
Even younger people who have never seen a classic mustang think the new design is great. It's timeless! |

I think they should continually improve a body style not bring back a classic. Thats what makes body styles classic....because they arn't made anymore. Maybe I am bitter because the name doesn't sound as mean as "Cobra".

The A55 is too long after the C pillar slope. It has a ghetto booty. :thumbdow:
Plus the tires fill out the wheel wells about as good as a stock WRX does. :thumbdow:

Kinda funny to see this thread. I was just in the doctors office, chest pains uggg hurt bad anyway, and I picked up the motor trend. They did a side by side comparison between the 06 Ford GT and Farrari F450 and the GT out performed the Ferrari. It was cheaper by I believe 20 Grand. The one thing though I didn't know about that blew me out the water was that Ferrari's warrant was UNLIMITED MILES!?!?!! My jaw DROPPED LoL you guys might know this but I didn't and was amazed, never thought I'd read something like that ever. Was also interesting to see that, but my guess is that the F450 is Ferraris low end car? Correct me if I am wrong.

It's alot harder for Ford to build big # cars becasue of the CAFE standards. When you are the leading manufacturer of the most commonly sold V8 car in America it's hard to sell enough econoboxs to offset the emmisions enough to stuff a bigger motor in their main sports car. Otherwise they would all have blown 351's. :D |
