Man, you have to take me for a ride in this thing if we ever meet. I have been a Datsun guy since I got into cars, and this thing is so cool.

no worries, since it's at home i'll be able to work on it when its cold outside since the shop doesnt have heat. However it's a bit tougher maneuvering around my small garage.
Thanks, hopefully i'll be able to have more updates soon! |

I have been looking for a new Z31 but they are either rusty junk or people think they are worth their weight in gold and try asking 6k for an automatic 2+2 digidash non-turbo model because it is a 86 and "Only has 100k miles!!!!". Dude, if you find any 2+0 non digigdash Z31s around let me know. I need to get back into one. The only way I'll even consider a digigdash, is if it is a slicktop model. Good luck with the Shiro. You swapping in another VG30ET or stepping up to a VG33? Also what kind of conditions are the stock Recaros in? They are almost always ripped on these things. |

I had a 84 Z31 with a Quest VG33 swapped in, running on a stock 86 turbo setup and an automatic turbo ECU (my car was 5-speed). It rusty, and looked like ass but damn if it wasn't the most fun car I ever owned, and that's running on stock boost, 6.5 lbs I think. The engine you have for it, is it a W-series VG30? I hope it is, not worth throwing anything else in a Shiro if it isn't a W-Series or a VG33. So jealous regardless. Not only do you have one of the rarest Zs, but it comes with some wonderful little extras like those Recaros, and a pretty good VLSD, plus better springs and sway bars stock. Only the late 87-89 turbo models had LSDs, and they were CLSDs, which aren't half bad either. You also have the beastly 30a transmission. Pretty much the first incarnation of the Z32 transmission. These puppies can hold some serious power. If you have any questions, this is actually the one car I know something about, but seeing your past work and cars, I have no doubt you can mange a lowly Z31. I actually know where a Shiro is, about 10 minutes from where I am now. It has been sitting in this guys driveway for years untouched... unloved. It scream out to me. I want to steal it. |

Have you tried leaving a note to see if they would sell it?
Yea my buddy knows a bit about z's so i can consult with him about them. I've been reading up on these things so trying to take in as much as i can. If anything i will ask you.... Either way i'll keep you and the thread updated with any progress on the datsun, the z and the other thing! |

Nice pics but no stock white wheels?!?!?!?!? These cars are so easy to work on, just watch out for those pesky fusible links. I have had issues with them on all 4 of my Zs. Thankfully, the Z31s beefed on the gauge on them over the S30s so they are a bit harder to pop, but they are usually one of the first things I replace after getting a new Z. Ohhhh, and do the timing belt ASAP. Don't rely on when someone told you when it was done, just go and do it. It's cheap and easy to do. |
