Yes it is different. Won't hold boost as well, but it can still hold boost. I hear 10psi with a headgasket should be no problem on these but I can't speak for higher boost applications

Not on the SR20de from a silvia, they had the distributor in the same spot as the turbo version.

Ive seen their engines on ebay, with free shipping. Has anyone ever dealt with them? Their prices are great.

The confusion in this thread is astounding, to say the least.
a DE motor will be perfectly fine up into the 350ish hp range without even cracking the engine open (well aside from tapping your oil return, and feeds if you wanna get baller...it's just easier to add a distribution block off your filter). Things to consider: The distributor will provide better spark as well. No worries of that ever blowing out with big boost up top! Stock pistons and rods: They'll be fine for 350ish up. No issues. Concerned, but like that power level? Go buy DET rods and CP pistons. Perfection. Headgasket: Stock for the 350 hp. Apexi, if you even want/need to change it. Oil Squirters: DE blocks don't have these. Do you track the car? If just a street racer/drag racer you'll be fine. Concerned still? You can send it to JWT/Mazworx for the machine work to have them installed. 200 bucks I think the process costs? While getting that done may as well get the bigger GTiR bearings machined as well. Oil/Water Feed: I would sugest tapping the 'spot' on the block for oil return, that is the smart thing to do. As for oil feed? Pull right off where the OE oil pressure sensor was. Water? Just T into the lines like factory, and splice another line for the feed. SR20's are VERY strong in stock form. The problem is, everyone that owns them flogs the balls out of them with half as.sed setups and then they explode. Set the timing to 15* and follow this: Walbro 255HP/50 or 72 lb injectors/Cobra or Z32 Maf/Nismo FPR/JWT S3 Cams/Rom tune - all Day everyday with any GT28RS/GT2871r (17ish psi maybe max). Anything else you add won't blow your motor.
