chansigril's 93 stealth twin turbo

starting this journal...

1993 dodge stealth twin turbo. all wheel drive, all wheel steering, electronic suspension, removable sunroof. classic plates, not my daily driver.

side pics:

engine bay:

recaro seats installed:

see sig for most recent updates and information!

done quite a bit to it already, it's had a storied history since i acquired it 4+ years ago. i recently upgraded the turbos from 13g to 13t and have been quite pleased with the car's performance. it ran a 12.4@109 on the old turbos and put down ~360awhp. i suspect with the new turbos i'm close to 400awhp but don't plan on taking it to a dyno in the immediate future. it will hopefully be going to the track before summer is out tho

current mod list includes:

performance
13t turbos, controlled with a greddy profec b spec 1 at 17psi
550cc injectors and hotwired supra fuel pump, controlled with an apexi safc
k&n intake
stillen front pipe and dnp rear pre-cat eliminator, stock cat-back
act 6 puck clutch
vacuum reduction
1st gen dsm recirculating bov
ngk iridium spark plugs, 10.2mm wires
dsm sidemount intercoolers and modified intake piping, including y-pipe

tuning
autometer cobalt boost gauge and egt gauge
scanmaster 3
innovate lm1 wideband o2 sensor
m515 datalogger with mmcd software

suspension
rear strut bar, 2 point
front strut bar in the picture has since been removed, hood clearance was really aggravating me.

current short term plans include replacing the front and rear strut bars with 3 point bars, installing rear adjustable control arms and tein s-techs with new oem ecs struts.

also recently started doing some polishing, so we'll see how that turns out.

medium term plans include installing a gm 3bar map sensor to enable logging boost, maft and ls1 maf to eliminate stock maf and replacing the brake lines with stainless lines. have also considered installing a methanol kit and a stock sized lightweight crank pulley but am not certain i will do either on the current setup.

long term plans include an engine build, which includes upgrading my spare turbos to 19t's, headwork including street cams and a bottom end build. i have a spare 93 tt parts car (complete) i picked up for this purpose as well as having all the little things my car will need over the years, so hopefully the completion for the engine build is about 18 months away. at some point i'd like to upgrade to a carbon fiber driveshaft and a 5se7en5 hood as well.

so... my plans, from near term to long

a never-ending project it seems, altho i'm fairly pleased with the car right now

Out of all of the 3kgts and Stealths this is my favorite body style. I'd love to take one and put a 99 VR4 front bumper on it and leave everything else Stealth.

thanks for the kind words folks, she's my baby and yes, she does get up and move

i purchased a 93 tt complete as a parts car (engine cranks but does not start, never spun a bearing, perfect for a rebuild) so 10 or 15 years from now, when parts are hard to come by i'll have my little stash. can you tell i have no plans to get rid of it

i'll keep the journal updated, i prob won't be making any more changes before summer is out, winter is the time to work on her, but as they are made i'll be updating

recaros installed!

quite a few changes since last updated most recently, i'll let the pics speak for themselves:

they feel fantastic, recaro did a great thing with the evo 8 seats. may at some point install roll bar and harnesses, let's see what happens at the track next week.

about a year ago i had a rather spectacular clutch failure, pulled the transmission and decided to rebuild pretty much everything.

the short block went to ray pampena to be rebuilt with his custom forged pistons and ring pack, keeping the factory forged crank and rods. he also received my heads for a freshening up, they were left stock however.

the transmission and transfer case went to jack's transmission to be freshened.

a fmic kit with hard piping and jackhammer timing gears were installed on the new engine once i received it back along with all the old goodies. the factory mas was done away with and replaced with a gm 3.5" maf and a maft set for the 550cc injectors, which then allowed the safc to be zeroed out and used for fine-tuning. a new clutch was installed along with the ips lightweight flywheel. an aem afpr and a fuel pressure gauge were also installed for fine-tuning purposes.

a few months after the build, took the car on a roadtrip up to see ray and have him tune it on his dynojet dyno were it put down 457awhp and 424awtq. these numbers were backed up a few weeks later at r/t tuning's dyno day by putting down 432awhp and 421awtq on their mustang dyno.

the car just had the seats shown above installed and will be going to the track friday, june 1st to log some quarter mile times. anything in the 11's is acceptable for me and i think the car shouldn't struggle to do that. we shall soon see!

they're grand touring cars according to one definition, a grand tourer is a luxury high-performance vehicle intended for long-distance high-speed travel in both comfort and style

me too. the initial upgrades are indeed simple and do make good power. once you get past a certain point tho the upgrades cease to be simple plus this car can be a pain in the ass sometimes... but i do love her

out of all the pieces on my car since my build, the one that fails first is 1 of only 2 pieces installed from general motors.

the 3.5" maf started dropping signal when hot.

ordered an aftermarket replacement, installed it today, testing it thursday.
