Once Lambo, now Porsche..soon Ferrari? SUV?

Quote:
Lamborghini already had an SUV for sale more than 25 years ago and today Porsche's Cayenne is a global success. Ferrari hesitated for a long time but has now decided to develop the world's fastest SUV, or so says our Italian contact with insider info. Our DTP expert than set to work with this information and produced the following renderings. The project has been coded the "Ferrari FS 599 Fuoristrada" and its supposed world debut target date is the Geneva Auto Show 2010.

While the five-door will feature four-wheel drive its off-road capabilities are not among the top priorities of the Ferrari development team. Two-thirds of the engine's power is rumored to be transferred to the wide 22-inch high-performance street tires in the rear.

The engine is familiar and hails from the Ferrari F599 Fiorano, albeit in slightly modified form. Its maximum power output of more than 600 hp and 600 Nm of torque will be a challenge for the size 315 tires front and back.

Despite an empty weight of around 2.2 tons the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is supposed to take less than five seconds, thanks to Formula 1-type shift paddles on the steering wheel. Targeted top speed is 300 km/h.

With a top speed such as this the Ferrari FS 599 Fuoristrada would easily eclipse the performance of a Porsche Cayenne Turbo, just as easily as it would eclipse its price at projected 250,000 Euros plus.

Hopefully it never sees the light of day. I hate the idea of exotic supercar SUV's, and hopefully the only person with half a brain running Ferrari does too.

The Cayenne, well, I don't want to step on anyone, so my mouth is shut regarding the Cayenne.

But this is an abortion.

It looks like someone took a picture of the maranello and stretched the height of the picture. Funny looking if you ask me.

Porsche is the only one that did it right, with regards to current trends (X5, ML's, Rav 4's, Trailblazers, sorento, all of them), their own style, power, and quality. That Ferrari is hideous, and is nothing like the Cayenne. It's not an SUV, nor is it an SAV (like the Cayenne), it's a lame attempt at a cross-over vehicle (think subaru wagon's, not that there is anything wrong with them, it's just not a game that Ferrari should play).

Lambo did it right! The LM001 and LM002 kicked ass!

Lambo didn't do it right because they were too far ahead of the times. If I recall, the LM001 wasn't even produced, it was more of a prototype/one off. The LM002, well, only about 200 were made. It was just, as I said, ahead of it's time.

yeah the lm002 was a badass vehicle. someone was going to take one on i belive the gumball rally or something, but the damn thing crapped out on them taking it for a test drive, and the fact that a certian tire company stoped making tires for it, so it was almost imposible to keep on the road, if the owner wanted it to be.

That jeep does not count. You cannot walk into a dealership and buy one of them.
