Gabes 87 CRX Si - THE BAT MOBILE

This is the work log for my 1987 CRX si 5 speed with 170xxx,

The car isn't going to have anything major done, but I figured I would show my work...

The car was bought for $750. Day one fuel pump is going to be replaced (Tomorrow) since I ran the tank dry and merked it test driving it...

The car was red, someone JDM primer'd it black, w/e, IDC, I'll clean up the paint sometime down the road.

It has 2 quarter sized rusted out holes in the spare tire area, which will be welded with chicken wire and new plates.

Rear windows are tinted with probably about 5%-20%, IDK really.

The interior has been taken apart. The owner was looking for rust and only found those 2 spots in the tire area... I will be putting in floor mats. (Interior pics come tomorrow.

AC/Heat works, all the lights work, etc etc. Should be a fun car to work on.

This is the car as it sits...

New pics will follow when I put the interior back together...

sounds like a fun car to work on

i'd make it into a pure track car, gut it, cage it, nice motor work, nothing more than 250hp and POW, monster of a track car!

goodluck

IDK...

I got the fuel pump half way out, but ran out of time...

I have to remove the rubber fill tube to get to the damper side of the pump...

The ****ty fuel pump... I couldn't get the damper off, since I didn't have my larger wrenches... had to leave it sit over night..

Today.. I went to install this crappy muffler at a shop (they let me use their lifts since I give them some cash every month to tinker in a bay)

Muffler I had was ****ed.. so I just threw it in the scrap pile...

Found the driver-side axle inner boot has blown up and I am sure will be clicking soon....

Oil Pan Plug is leaking, bought a new one... guess I'll be doing an oil change early...

Adjusted the height adjustment nuts here - Now I don't slam on everything...

CRX on the lift... with this crappy ass cherry bomb... man I need a new muffler...

Fitted the intake and plugged that PCV return... new plugs and wires too...

I am going to get another shell... swap in this motor to that, and swap another motor into this one... The shell is the same year, clean interior, and only $200 towed to my house... WIN.

Wide shot of the cleaned rims.. still more work to be done on them...

Forgot to post this -

Replaced PCValve... Good VS Bad

Removed timing belt cover.. looks good, seems to only have about 30k on it...

Replaced Valve Cover Gasket since it was leaking... Honda Head Mike aka OBRACER

Mike Cracked the stupid timing belt cover, so we decided to just **** it and run it without the cover.. bottom is still covered though...

So here is an update on whats going on...

I took the CRX to Fairway Motors in Turnersville NJ.

Thought my Trans was leaking, so they replaced my clutch with an OEM NAPA NKK Alton Clutch. They had Linden Transmission next door, reseal the seam between the trans case and the flywheel housing. Turns out my trans wasn't leaking, but it was probably a good idea to do that anyway...

So I took it back this morning, to get the rear main seal done, since that is the only thing on that side of the motor that would cause that much oil to leak into that area of the trans. It was so bad, that the brand new clutch, barely holds high end torque. So they are going to do that today/tomorrow and since they gotta drop the pan, they are gonna replace the oil pan gasket to.

ALL IN ALL, close to $1000, but it is my DD so I had to get it done...

Pics of new clutch vs old coming soon.
