Speeding on a "donut"

Sorry if this is a repost but when you search for "donuts" or "spare tires", you get a lot of hits on this site. lol

On my way home from work tonight I saw a minivan speeding with a donut installed. To my knowledge, every "donut" sized spare is limited to 50 mph. I was driving a steady 70, so they were traveling at least 80 mph.

Is it a ticketable offense for driving over 50 mph on a donut? I'm just interested if you guys have any knowledge pertaining to any such donut related laws in the country. Thanks.

IT would be operating and unsafe vehicle and every state has an applicable law.

did you think about what you were writing when you typed this?

speeding...period, will get you cited. Driving above the recommended speed for a device only to be used temporarily might get you killed

Thanks Sarge.

Bane...

I thought about the question thoroughly.

This was my question:

This is how I determined he was traveling in excess of 50 mph:

My question was solely in regard to the donut. He could have been traveling at 60 mph in a 65 mph zone, which would still fulfill the parameters of my question while not breaking the posted speed limit.
