renn's EJ2 coupe ... recaro content

picked this up at a dealer bone stock with 122k miles. this is my third civic and fourth honda, i've had an EK and an EP3 and a b20vtec CR-V so far so i guess i'm backtracking a little bit but due to the consequences in/of this thread i didn't really have much choice but to pick up a much cheaper car.

part of my bucket list is building a car to be real fast, i would like to get this car to at least 400 whp, or to trap 125+ with full interior. right now it is a single non-vtec, that motor will stay stock while i build most likely an h2b h22 turbo / gsr trans. before i start anything i'm cleaning up the body and doing all the suspension work and a gsr brake conversion front and rear. i don't have to worry about removing a/c and p/s since the car came without them from the factory!

red = not bought
blue = bought, not installed

engine

exterior
EG6 SiR lip
replica Spoon mirrors
JDM thin side moldings
JDM stanley clear corners

interior
EX cluster

audio
Kenwood Excelon KDC-X794 head unit w/ iPod connection
Infinity Reference 6032si front door speakers

suspension
Skunk2 Pro-S II coilover
Skunk2 rear LCA's (black)
ASR subframe brace (black)
ASR 24mm rear swaybar (black)

wheels/tires
CST Precedeo Demon Cambers
Front: 15x7 et18
Rear: 15x7 et0

keeping it more or less OEM until i make power, then i'll buy something nice and put drag radials on them.

120 for steelies + wheel covers > paying minimum 4-500 for cheap wheels and then putting tires on them. and then i'll have cheap wheels.

got the spoon mirrors and sir lip in the mail, and installed the ex cluster this weekend.

also bought real wheels instead of steelies. they are 15x7 0 offset in the back, 18 in the front.

need to do suspension and fender work before i put them on though.

my thermostat is taking a ****..need to replace that.

i noticed my car blows some smoke out the rear view mirror at wot in higher rpms....facepalm. i haven't let the car overheat with the bad thermostat, but maybe my temp. gauge isn't completely accurate. gonna be looking for oil in my coolant when i drain it to replace the thermostat. not really trying to deal with a blown headgasket right now.

headgaskets are easy on d16's. and if your doing the thermo you might aswell do the water pump and timing belt all together. its all about a 3hr job with the right tools. Seeing this build thread makes me miss my coupe more and more each day.

When i bought her-

Right before i parted her out-

And right before the scrap yard-

Just keep up your build and you'll get there. just keep it clean and simple

it will definitely be clean and simple. all oem body parts and a solid drop and stance. your eg is nice, i wish i had a sunroof.

as far as the hg, i will probably just pull the motor if it gets to that point and put in a stock LS. then i can work on building a GSR head and acquiring turbo parts and internals for the motor. i'll keep the d15 in case i need it as a back up and just do the hg while the motors out.

on my immediate to do list besides the thermostat are find a hood that isn't messed up, a driver side fender that is clean, put the SiR lip on, put the spoon mirrors on, buy stanley clear corners, GSR black leather interior, then buy suspension parts and GSR discs all around and put my wheels on and roll the fenders. that's basically all i want to get done before i start putting money into boost.

what happened to your eg?

changing the thermostat was a bitch but at least it's done and the car doesn't overheat anymore.

idk, it's just black plastic... it's not a show car, i'm just gonna build the motor to be nasty. i'd rather be doing other things with it than getting the front bumper painted. it's not like the whole car is primer, and the door handles, mirrors, lip and skirts are all the same color. i'll get around to it but it's not a priority at this point.

hopefully the person who's supposed to pick up my old wheels this weekend doesn't back out..that way i can pick up the rest of what i need for the suspension and body and get started with the motor.
