I used to voulenteer at Petsmart, and I've fostered dozens of litters of kittens. Petsmart/Petco's cats arent from the SPCA, the organization that run that is called Cat Tails. I adopted both of my kittens from cat tails, and couldnt be happier. There really is an overwhelming number of cats around that dont have homes, and may never find homes. I find it irresponsible and unethical to be breeding cats for no reason other than you want a litter of your own. If you want to have and raise your own litter so badly, sign up to be a voulenteer at cat tails, and foster an ALREADY pregnant cat. All the benefits of having your own litter, and you get first pick of the litter. Dont knock up another cat- whatever reasons you have to justify it, I promise you, are not valid.

Just FYI, I believe the cats come from different rescues at Petsmart because when I worked at Petsmart, the rescue there was different than the organization at another Petsmart I was in.

Thanks for the correction. I only ever voulenteered at the petco and petsmarts in Warminster (St Rd), and both of those were organized by Cat Tails.

Either way, my point remains the same. Foster a pregnant cat if you want to have kittens.

Yeah, sadly there's a lot of organizations in Philly that constantly have pregnant cats

When we were fostering, we'd literally have a line of pregnant cats waiting for a foster. Once one litter was ready to go, we'd drop them off and theyd have a pregnant cat waiting for us the same day. Theres no shortage of pregnant cats, thats for sure. There is, however, a shortage of people willing to dedicate their time to fostering these cats.

Its actually a lot less work, IMO, then people think too. I've fostered quite a few cats/kittens.

Every PetsMart usually has a different rescue group in store. I know the ones near me have different rescues.

I'm going to pick up a kitten on Sunday for my coworker in NJ. I can pick you up one if you want. They had 2 black females and then 4 B&W..not sure if the B&W are males or females though.

Lemme know...
