im sorry for ur loss, and this gives me a rude awakening.

reminds me of a few yrs back when two cars were racing near the oxford valley mall and (dodge stealth? and civic?) and the stealth slid around a turn and hit the curb and when it hit the tree the car split in half and threw the driver like 20 ft. i was workin at red robin in oxford valley when it happened.

but not to sound like a jerk but do u think a kid that young could handle an svt cobra? for example, i see an aftermarket pulley on the Sc so that thing made serious power anyway...

i dont want to sound insensitive (even tho im sure thats how it comes off) im really sorry for the guy and for his family but.....who thinks he wouldnt be drivin crazy in a car like that? i kno i wouldnt be able to control myself...

dont be upset im just statin my thoughts. hope ur ok man

I dont realy think the power had anything to do with the decision to pass on a hill. Although there are a few very good drivers that are still quite young.

He was experienced, he had a quick Eclipse GSX, a completely blown mustang notchback, a 97 cobra, then the 04 cobra. He was a good driver, and from what I recall never did anything really really stupid. I am seriously still so shocked that this happened. He was goofing around, wrong place.. wrong time.. and paid ultimately for it. Same with the man in the other car.. he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, even though he was in the proper lane.. it's truly a shame two lives were lost so sudden.

It seems as though you learned a lesson from all of this. You also seem to want to make sure others do as well. I think that is the perfect way to remember your friend and honor the man that he hit.

...just because you have or currently own a couple of cars doesn't make you a qualified expert. I would think that you would know this.

At any rate, it's still a shame, and hopefully a lesson learned to other INEXPERIENCED, immature, uneducated (continue the list), young drivers.

dude.. what???

He was experienced with powerful cars, that's what i said. Did anyone say anything about expert?? I don't think ANYONE on here is an expert.

This has nothing to do with experience, period. He made a bonehead mistake passing in the wrong lane.. PERIOD.

Let it be a lesson to anyone who thinks that they have experience just because they owned a couple of cars through 2 years of their lives, or think that their car can make a pass...(2 years of owning a couple of cars isn't exactly "experience" in the scope of things). I wasn't trying to make that as an argument, just saying that don't let people think it should be an excuse.

The real point that I was saying is let this be a lesson to all of the drivers out there, and on this board. Just because you think you can, doesn't mean you can. Drive carefully.

True, but the statement was "He was experienced, he had a quick Eclipse GSX, a completely blown mustang notchback, a 97 cobra, then the 04 cobra." which just seemed like he was trying to imply that his experience was good experience where he was a good driver do to owning the cars, which is a horrible thing to say.

Oh well, off topic, and I just wanted to make sure people know that just because you have experience with "fast" cars doesn't mean you should be driving them, driving them hard, or screwing around. As stated, let it be a lesson learned, and RIP. This isn't the thread for a debate.

-sigh-

You don't get my point. The guy said should he be driving such a fast car, if he doesn't have experience. My point WAS, that he DID have experience with fast cars. This stupid mistake he did, had nothing to do with experience with a fast car. If he floored it in his lane, and wiped out and lost the car.. then that has to do with not being able to handle a fast car. He could handle a fast car JUST FINE. Being in the wrong lane doesn't go under experience with a car of that caliber, unless he lost control because he didn't have experience and went into the other lane.

I get your point. Except making reasonable decisions is part of owner any car, but decision making skills are even faster made when in a faster car. Experience doesn't equal responsibility and maturity. Anyway, irrelevant.

You don't get my point. My point was let this be a lesson to drivers of ALL TYPES, EXPERIENCED OR NOT, to drive more carefully. To be honest, him having experience isn't relevant in any way. You can classify experience as 1 minute in a car, and in the end, it doesn't matter because hopefully other drivers will realize that accidents happen, often more when you are screwing around (no matter what kind of cars you have driven in the past).
