Actually, it was discontinued for a two-fold reason. 1, Ferrari sued Fiero because the 1987 Fiera Mera and GT remarkably looked like a Ferrari, more specifically, the 308 and 2, because (according to GM) the car wasn't turning a profit. In fact, the Pontiac Plant where Fiero was produced was closed down as Fiero was discontinued. Apprently they were hemorrhaging cash.
It's a real interesting story.
