sounds like you needed to speak to an attorney because civil and criminal are different courts, and insurance / parents would have been responsible for civil liability. The guy who hit my brother and I last may who paralyzed my brother from the neck down was just charged in our case... We are also seeking civil action in federal court. Just saying
