Opening Night Videos From Cecil County Dragway!

Went to Cecil County Dragway last night for their opening night of the 2012 season. It was PACKED. New track surface (concrete) is quite nice! Great work on their part. They didn't have the sensors for the 1/4 mile finished 'til about 9pm, so we ran 8th mile 'til then (blahhh). I only got in 3 runs from 6:45pm 'til about 9:15pm. My runs were as follows:

6:45pm:
R/T: .247
60': 2.365
330': 6.129
1/8: 9.079
MPH: 84.03
1000':
1/4:
MPH:

7:45pm:
R/T: .422
60': 2.283
330': 6.033
1/8: 8.993
MPH: 83.78
1000':
1/4:
MPH:

9:15pm:
R/T: .652
60': 2.227
330': 5.892
1/8: 8.811
MPH: 84.83
1000':
1/4: 13.404
MPH: 107.49

I was spinning in 1st & and 2nd. Still having my usual traction issues. Front tires were at 40 psi cold, the rears at 25 psi cold. I launched from 2000 to 3000 depending on the run.

And here are the videos of myself and some buddies who raced last night (Some GoPro on-board, some with my cell phone)...

Thanks. Yep basically stock: Flowcrapper catback bypassed with a QTP E-cutout, K&N FIPK, 315/35R17 Nitto NT555 Extreme's. That's really it for power adders or traction. Stock 3.42's and LSD. 320 WHP with the cutout closed in 90* humid weather (dunno if that effects anything too much).

This is from 2 guys on LS1 Tech:

"Yeah I mean try messing with them some more and see what they like but you are losing sooo much off of line which I am sure you are aware of. You could be at least a half second faster, if not a full second. "

"FWIW I went a full half second faster and exactly 1mph slower than you on a 1.9 60'. Keep playing with the air pressure and def do a bigger burnout. You have 12s in the car for sure with a better launch... "

Going back on Weds if I decide not to watch the Flyers game (tough call). Lower tire pressure, trying an idle launch or two, etc.

yeah...Nittos are pretty bad for the track..(better than street tires yes) but its hard to make them stick like say a MT or even BFG. i used to run the nittos at 16-18psi back when i was stock/headers only, cam only and the best i could get was a 2.05 60', no matter what i tried.
you're MPH should have you in the 13.1-13.3 range if you can 60 a little better. lower that to a 2.0 and you'll see low 13's all day long.
my suggestion would be to air down the tires a little more, say to 17-19 and launch the car at about 2800-3000. dont snap the clutch, ride it out and you should improove the 60'. it'll take some getting used to but its the best thing for these cars. anything lower in rpms will bog the car, anything higher will just spin them. your clutch will hate you for it but if its stock it wont last very long anyways so let er eat.
btw i still have a torque arm that can help your traction as well...:)

It would take a natural disaster to keep me away from watching the Flyers game Wednesday.

I need to get back ASAP to mess with my launches. I was running 2.036 60' times with my LT1 Camaro, but it was auto so that was MUCH easier for me to get traction. We will see how my work progresses I guess. Torque arm = more traction too which = 10 bolt kablam! lol

I've decided to watch the game tonight instead as well.

It's been raining off and on anyway, I doubt cecil is open.

Yah I'm not sure if they were closed or open. A few buddies are going today, but I hate Fri nights. Too many damn ricers....
