That is a LOT of people on track... I'll have to look to see what group I should be in. Not sure I can swing the cost right now.

Haha...well you are the better driver, so I was giving you that much.

I watched some drivers cams of the track on Youtube and it looks like a simple track to drive. I know at speed that's underestimating it, but compared to Shenandoah it looked like a Nascar track.

Yeah, I just checked the site on my laptop and not mobile. The green group is already filled up with people overflow. Looks like I won't be able to make this race, since I'm not in the Blue group just yet (thinking one more weekend should do it?).

Just gives me more time to save money, so not all hope is lost here. Brake pads are gonna be $419.

Brakepads aren't cheap, you can see how I spent $3k on pads last couple of years... Getting one weekend and some I never even used lol.

IMO You're probably already a blue driver, but I didn't ride with you. You seemed aware of traffic and the right lines to be on and such, and you knew your limits and the cars limits I think, and were willing to drive to them.

Yikes, you're right...that would add up quickly.

Thank you! I think if there was another day I would have been promoted. I was really close but my instructor wanted me to work on signalling a little bit more before I advanced. :)

Received the part from ShopChevyParts today and quickly installed:

Here's the aluminum close up, the bar is very light:

Comparison with the BMR strut tower bar:

https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2078/3...2f479577_c.jpg

The GM mounts to the car differently than the BMR. The BMR mounts solely on the strut towers, while the GM bar screws into the existing bars running into the firewall for more of a triangulation. This is the inside bolt on each side of the bar.

All done, before/after:

The BMR bar is noticeably heavier by a few lbs over the GM bar. The difference in feel with the BMR was on turning into inclines or declines. The car was a little flatter up front. However, it's mostly a visual mod and thats why I switched over to the GM part. Plus, I just like keeping factory parts on the car.

DocWalt 02-10-2017 04:06 PM

That looks to be a bit better "style" to fit the car. Saving weight is good :)

Have you seen the recent reviews of the 1LE versus other cars? *ahem* The 1LE package is quite a bargain

Yeah, I should have just gone with the GM to begin with, but the BMR was on Black Friday special for like $75 less and the "let's just try it" part of my mind took over.

Have I seen the 1LE reviews versus other cars? Me? Nah...

Here's my planned mod list:

1LE Short Shifter Ordered

1LE 6-piston front brakes

1LE Suspension System

1LE Rear Trailing Arms

Throw a DSC controller in the mix after it's all done and with the proper tires...:inlove:

(I say this like the SS isn't already a great performance car haha)

DocWalt 02-10-2017 10:47 PM

Sell the BMR one :)

Do you feel the same stiffness change with the GM part?

Already listed it for sale haha

Haven't driven it yet to be able to tell you. Will know more this weekend but my fiancé recently picked up a 2010 328xi that I've been working on. :)

Seven 02-12-2017 02:57 PM

So where's this dyno chart?

Cancelled due to the snow storm we got. Will be going back in two to three weeks.

DaveSTi 02-15-2017 11:47 AM

Trying to decide what to get next...

Wicker bill rear spoiler setup like Seven has, a ZL1 rear spoiler setup or more 1LE goodies

The stock power has been enough as is...although bolt ons are tempting.

I just saw an RS with these caliper covers.. http://www.autoanything.com/brakes/61A7417A0A0.aspx

That should be your next mod, totally.

Well, I did stuff to do stuff, but also with some foresight to it.

First, I ordered some door striker rubber covers. They cost me less than $10 shipped and will cover up the bare metal to make it a little bit nicer. Literally zero function other than that.

http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j4...r-Cover-01.jpg

Next, I ordered the GM splash guards in my color. They're supposedly quite functional at reducing rock chips and keeping road grime off the side of the car. This is something I'm going to need more going forward as I move from a 245 width front tire to a 285 width front tire and hit the track.

Not a huge fan of how they look, but I'd rather keep my paint looking good (especially the large rear fenders)

DocWalt 02-17-2017 01:47 PM

285s... yum

I like the flap/guards. A lot like the OEM guards I had on the BRZ. I think I'd like yours more if they were just plain black though.

At least your door striker thing isn't the obnoxious TRD door stabilizer. Then I'd have to smack you...

:lol::lol:

How bad is that chassis that it needs those to stiffen it? I'd be worried of getting T-boned

Yeah, black would look good too. Honestly not a fan of their looks at all, but rock chips suck.

DocWalt 02-17-2017 08:06 PM

The chassis wasn't THAT soft, IMO. That's a pretty silly graph, haha.

Rock chips do indeed suck. Are you doing PPF?

I'm considering it for sure. Going to have the car detailed fully after winter and looking at ceramic coating.

DocWalt 02-20-2017 06:12 PM

You need to take more rear 3/4 view pics... Such a good angle to show off the styling. Way cleaner than the earlier models.

Thanks man. I will start to take more photos once the winter wheels are off the car.
