TiC Touch maintenance packages

The economy sucks. I seem to be starting a number of threads that way lately. Believe me, you know it, and we REALLY know it.

Sure toys are great. Things like anti-roll bars, endlinks, coilovers, springs dampers, a whole load of bushings, new intercoolers, new turbos, and new motors are great to get, and we all know how much fun these cars are to play with, but lets face the cold reality.

For 99% of the folks on this board these cars are our primary mode of transportation.

AND for 99% (probably 99.9%) of the people on this board we have bills to pay. Thus we need our cars to get us to work so we can pay bills. Heck, for a number of us we HAVE to get to work to pay those bills just to keep going in this crappy economy.

Sure, you can point the blame at any number of places for the situation a number of us are in. Frankly we don't care who you blame or where fingers are pointed. It doesn't change the fact that we need our cars to get us to work so we can pay the bills. Your car HAS to work.

It also doesn't change the fact we are holding on to our older cars for longer, and not pick up an expensive new car payment.

As such your car HAS to work so we can work so we can pay bills.

Thus we're all going to need parts. Sure you can do stock parts OR you can do stock parts with a little something extra.

If you have to replace the part, and do the work why not have a LITTLE bit of fun with it.

We're not talking huge money either. Remember, the goal is to keep the car going (your car HAS to work), but at the same time we understand the desire to make it better while you're at it.

This is where what we're calling the TiC Touch comes in.

Over the past few days we have started adding categories under the various makes and models on our site for Maintenance Items.

Under there you will start to find some of the packages that we've been putting together for parts you will need because your car HAS to work.

Below are some of the things we've added to the site that because your car HAS to work, but can still be fun. :)

Gates Racing belts

We have both AC and power steering/alternator belts that we're now stocking.

These are great belts that will last a very long time, and are a bit of a nice upgrade.

If you haven't thought about your belts in a while you might want to check them out.

Gates Racing radiator hoses

Nice hoses, and not as pricey as the Samco's. Not a bad combo.

Oh, and when you pick them up you can also add some really nice new radiator clamps. If you've ever messed with the stock radiator clamps you know how crappy they are. These are MUCH MUCH better.

Gates Racing timing belt

Nice timing belt, and cheaper than stock.

In fact, we're going to be doing a group buy on a total timing belt package here soon. You'll get all the idlers, water pump, t-stat, gaskets, timing belt, accessory belts, and tensioner in one box. Keep an eye out for that.

TiC Hub-a-dub package

Not much glamorous about our old 5x100 front wheel bearings. Not much at all.

What about the ability to get everything that you need in one kit from one place.

That'll get you:
  • New hub
  • New wheel bearing
  • New inner seal
  • New outter seal
  • New axle nut

What if we took it one step further and pressed in new ARP wheel studs? You know, the super strong, super long ones. Yep, we're going to include those in the package.

So you get all the items above plus you get ARP wheel studs!

Ok - so it's kinda dumb to have long studs on one side, and not the other. Well, you can pick up a second Hub-a-dub package right off the Hub-a-dub listing at the same time for a small discount OR you can pick up ARP studs by themselves for the other side.

Oh, and since most of us don't have lug nuts deep enough for these monstrously long studs you're going to need to think about nuts.

We went the extra mile and sourced some Muteki open ended nuts for use with these should you need them. If you pick them up with your Hub-a-dub there's even a small discount.

Some things to be on the look out for:

A few things to keep an eye out for that we have immediate plans on.
  • The timing belt package group buy mentioned above.
  • 5x100 Rear Hub-a-dub package
  • 5x114 Front and Rear Hub-a-dub package
  • 5x114 Front Competition Hub-a-dub package
  • Oil pump replacement packages
  • Engine Gasket packages
  • Radiator packages (lots of stock radiators are starting to have the end tanks separate)
  • Some stock and even uprated engine internals that have been reworked with the TiC Touch for those guys building motors, and trying to do it on a budget, but with some upgrades.
  • An FU Subaru package for the 08 and 09 guys. Subaru ditched the AC belt adjuster starting in 08. Dumb Dumb DUMB idea. We're putting together a package that gets you the correctly sized Gates Racing accessory belts, the old adjuster, the correct bolts, and the Kartboy lightweight pulley. Subaru never should have ditched the adjuster, and this is our response to a move most likely made by the corporate accountants.
