Fastest lap I have turned yet at NJMP thunderbolt

http://vimeo.com/32017559

the last lap in the vid was a 1:26.7, which is actually getting pretty quick at that track...That translates to around a 1:28-129 when running the chicane (grand-am configuration) and most of the GT cars were running 1:25-1:27. A second or two from those guys in using my relatively dated equipment (05 gt spec) aint shabby IMHO.

Congratulations, that's ripping along really fast. Was this from this past weekend?

I think I also recognize the flame spitting black Porsche that was in front of you. I was there Saturday as a member guest since I'm weighing joining the Drivers Club.

Not too shabby indeed. Great driving.

Great driving and congrats on the faster time! Just out of curiosity, which fire suit are you wearing and did you get it locally?

sechsgang 11-22-2011 09:00 PM

That is an Alpinestars GP tech suit, great great stuff. I got it through Dougherty Automotive in West Chester, they do the work on my car.

As for the black car, ya, thats Brian Smith and that is a 420-440 hp 2350 or so lb missile. (I was there Friday, left for saturday).

And thanks guys, def a fun time there.

And you absolutely should join, the members days are great and the people are even better. They are normally more relaxed than normal driver's groups too. I havent run with the PCA in forever.

Driving's the main thing. Good job!

c7scayman 06-12-2012 04:17 PM

oo, I'm only 20 seconds behind. haha.

DJI203 10-01-2012 12:33 PM

Damn that's really fast. I have no idea what my times are at T-bolt. My best time at Lightning was 1:20 with street tires but I will be there this upcoming weekend with PCA Delaware.

wow really nice driving. I'm also very impressed by the quickness and smoothness of your shifts. Jesus. If I had my eyes closed I would swear it was a sequential

Nice job!!

MaxRPM 03-01-2013 07:07 PM

what are the cost and requirement to get into that track?

AZP Installs 05-02-2013 10:29 PM

Depends on which group you run with. We are doing a Private track event in June and it will be about $300 for 3+ hrs of track time. If you are an advanced driver Povoledo Track Days runs $399 for 8 hours.

At NJMP, the track days cost me $200 which included class time, driving instructors, and personal track time without an instructor. It was with Porsche Club of America. I attended as a guest since I was not a member with PCA back then. Costs varies depending on what organization rented the track, or if you are trying to rent out the track yourself with a group of friends.

Also depends on what day of the week too. The tracks charge based on which day of the week and then the clubs pass that down. Also depends on how many folks are running.

I run with JoeyG (http://PovoledoTrackDays.com) and we charge $399 but that's for 8 hours of open track time, no run groups or anything and is limited to 40 cars. So there is rarely any more than 15-20 cars on track at any given time.
