Ok, so there has been a lot of talk about having a BIG meet in the spring/summer for ALL cars somewhere in the area. Last summer there was a WRX meet with about 100 cars and also an SRT meet with about 80 cars. With that said, there is a lot of potential for a meet with all cars. I just wanted to open a thread where everyone could throw out ideas to start heading in a direction with this.
So, first we need to find a place to do this. We should find somewhere that can accomodate 200+ cars on a weekend sometime around april/may/june. The problem that exists here is that if we are going to a desireable place, it may very well already have plenty of cars in it occupying the lot. We also will most likely need permission to have the meet. We were discussing a public park, or possibly renting out Atco/Englishtown. If we go with a park it will need a big lot, and will need to be in a spot that doesnt really fill up with other cars. BBQs, bathrooms, and fields to play some ultimate frisbee or whatever else are good too. If we go to Atco/Englishtown then there will be substantial cost involved with that, but definitely possible to cover with a maximum $10 per car fee.
Second, we need to pick a tentative date. Early spring? Late spring? Summer? Any dates we should definitely avoid? Thats all up to the group...
Third, what else do I need to be planning? What havent I thought of?
Ok, lets get the ideas flowing, and please stay on topic here...

Well there is a MAJOR SRT meet being planned for Memorial Day in NY, so I would say not to have it in the month of May because many SRT owners may not be able to get off another day that month.
Also, I would have it on a sunday, that seems to work best.
I will help you with any planning needed. I am very good at this stuff!

i think june would be great. all the youngins like me will be outa school so that wont interfere with anything. Even though you are having it on a sunday, college kids need to study (cram on sunday before the monday test). I suggest June 18th.....two days after me b-day.

June works for me!
I want to find sponsors though! Maybe have some raffles? Help defer our costs?

we will most definitly have things like that. 50/50's, raffles, and hopefully we will be able to get some shops to come out. we have plenty of time

Yeh. So lets start the planning now, and shoot for June.
FIRST - Find a willing place which is large enough.

ok so what we need to do now is find a good location. if anyone reading this has any ideas please suggest them. are you guys still thinking that ETown would be a good spot, or do you have any ideas on a park somewhere? we should try to keep the location relatively halfway between NYC and Philly just so its somewhat central to the 'tristate'.

ill try to find a list of all state parks in that area & see what i can find.
maybe we can find a park by a beach or something?
it'd be cool to mix a meet up with the shore!

Traffic in June though.... :rolleyes:

Traffic in June going to the Jersey shore on the weekend is horrible. I think that we might be able to get Phila Park Racetrack's permission. It is a huge lot that some of you already know.
Toyota, Jeep, Mazda, and I think Mercedes have manufacturer test drive shows there.

I also know of another fairground/park where there is a corvette show every year. They have probably 200-300 vette's there, and then there are probably another 300-400 cars parked looking at the vettes!
It is in Penns Park, which is Right next to Richboro/New Hope/Peddler's Village.
I will see if I can find any info on this park.

I think we would need to be closer to North Jersey. Kind of in the middle of our area.
I would love to get a huge meet together though.
Maybe E-town? Get some racing done at the same time. I should be ready to run hard by then.

E-Town sounds good...I'm down to help plan. June sounds good, maybe the last Sunday in June.
Vypurr,
Did u talk to Ray or Psi Fi yet about coming out? Also Forward Motion in Delaware. They might have days that aren't good for them.

Well as far as I can tell, they are both trying to show who has a bigger "turbo" (turbo=weiner)...So after sinking endless $ into their cars, neither one can reall daily drive their cars anymore, even though they are street legal! lol
Its actually pretty funny!

maybe a meet at the beach in the spring?

I am looking for all of the help that I can get but CT is a little north of our target area. We are looking for somewhere between NYC and philly. We are doing this so the people of the outer areas wont have to put 1000 miles on their car. This leaves us a whole lot of area in Upper PA, Central and North NJ, and some of NY. The internet is the best tool.

i would say have it on a saturday just nice and easier for alot of people to get out...cause if im out on sat night the chances of me waking up for a meet on sunday is minimal since its the day before id have to go back to work id like rest
and i wouldnt really want it at a race track type place (atco, etown) id like to be able to drive my car home and not call a cab after its been stolen

It is pretty big. 100+ probably if we can park on the grass. I would get you some pics, but it is supposed to snow all weekend...

I like criz's idea of the beach, but traffic would be really tough. Then there is always an issue with parking down the shore so we wouldnt all be able to stay together. Plus, i think the cops would have a field day with us, not that wed be doing anything wrong but when they see a bunch of loud sports cars all together and they have nothing else to do.... :finga:
We could always look into tyler state park. I was there for a big VW meet. they had around 100 cars there. Im sure we could get permission to park on the grass if we filled up the lot. There is also core creek. If we get some vendors to come out, and run some raffles we could easily make the cost of one.

Yeah, thats why the Park would be better. We could park together and then walk around and meet people.

if we cant park on the grass there is a long drive that you can find a empty strip and park along it.. there is a spot that has a gazebo thats were we the dj. but it could be anywhere

You think if we park on both sides of the street we would still need more room? It is alot of space just from the main drag to the other street near the pavilion in the middle.

I remember one time calling core creek park to get a price for a party there... and I think it was like 40 bucks for a permit.
but no alcohol... which hey, we dont need it

I set up the last SRT meet at Core Creek. It is $150/day for the large pavilian, BUT you cannot block off their parking lot, so anyone who is there to use their playground (usually a good # of ppl) can park there to. It can hold about 100 cars, but you CANNOT park on the grass, drink, and are not guaranteed all 100 spots...
I would look into tyler.

I was at the Core Creek Srt4 meet. It was awesome. I really liked it. If everyone chipped in a little i dont think it will be to bad. But i dont know on how many people are planning on attending. I say beeing at the spot we were at no more then 100 cars, so maybe it will be a problem.
Hopefully everyone can work something out.

Just my 2 cnts...
State Parks, generally are much cheaper than township and county parks. So if that helps narrow down somewhat the scope of our quest, you're welcome.
Also,
I queried Washington Crossing Park (NJ side), and, as it appears to be common across the board, have the following attributes:
Confirmed Info
-----------------
* Cost $75
* Capacity of Group: 125
* Request Type Picnic ( Auto groups officially not supported)
* Parking:
- First Come Basis (Can't block off tarmac)
- Parking on grass areas (laxed)
* Weekends OK
* No Alcohol (surprise!)
* Included:
- Playground area for you kiddies (teh Mike)
- Available Restrooms
- Reserves a Picnic Shed
Unknown Info
----------------
* If we need to pick-up One-Day vehicle passes. They charge for drive-ups (general park admission)
* <ANYTHING ELSE>??????
They are at (609)737-0623.
The park is beautiful and has bike trails and streams too.
I'm not trying to convice anyone to choose THIS park, but it just shows how state parks are typically funded better, cleaner (and cheaper!) than some local parks.

We have also held an SRT Meet on the PA Side...Parking is limited though...
$50/day (no charge per car)
- SMALL BBQ (We would need someone to bring one!)
- Pavilian
- Soccer field
- HUGE middle field
- Bathrooms
- 1 large parking lot
I will check into it to see how many cars, but we could do a TST meet there....Would we really get more thatn 75 cars? I kinda doubt it for the 1st meet.
