Well I am not sure if there is an actualy % of error per say. The radar units are digitaly calabrated for each specific police car on average of once every few weeks. Therefore, the radar unit is exact on the police car's actual speed. If a cop is following you and is able to pace your speed...meaing able to get maintain a distance beheind you and follow you. he can figure out your speed, within a few miles of an hour. hope that helps a little

would u say +-5mph, depending on whether or not the officer had to speed up to pass a car to get behind?

yea i would say not more then + or - 5mph..that is why if i cant radar a car for some reason, and I pace them, i usually give them the benefit of the doubt (if i am going to write them) and round the milage down and "give them a break" so to speak.
