I got a ticket entitled "unsafe start" while designated driving for some drunk asshole friends of mine in NY. Any idea if this is a points violation and the ballpark $ i might have to pay?

Im fighting it, clearly. I was essentially saving three lives by offering to drive these guys home. The cop was the rudest i have ever dealt with, he swore and spoke to me very sarcasticly

"Have you been drinking?"
No, sir.
"Yeah... i bet...(laughs)"

My friends power window wasnt working so i motioned to him to open it as i yelled "the window is broken"...i didnt want him to get spooked if i swung the door open. So he goes "you can open the ****ing door, ya know"

No offense, but this guy has really made me despise everything 'cop'

Thanks for hearing me out :supz:

oh, i also got the breathalizer and passed it...but had to wait in the car for over half an hour while he ran my license and let that go through...does a breathalyzer really take this long!?!?!?

There was no price on the ticket. I mailed it in as Not Guilty, and have a hearing on March 8th. I am still so confused and pissed off... The judge better just toss this one out.

^ I apoligize for being a little unclear in my first post. What happened was, I was in a friends BMW that I had never driven, went to do a U turn in a parking lot, and did about half of a "donut" in the snow. The cop said "your lucky im only writing you down for unsafe start, i should be whacking you with wreckless driving!"

I cant imagine this guy even working for this town anymore. He was just the most rude, unprofessional person i have ever dealt with.

To make matters worse, i had to fight with the court to change my date, and I have to drive 6 hours away to go to the hearing and risk losing on top of my gas expenses!!! The ticket never had an indication of how much the ticket was for and how many points, if any.

I am just extremely frustrated - thanks for the reply and thanks for hearing me out
