so can u get in trouble for something that u may or may not have done a year ago but didnt get caught at that time?
just an example... hypothetically speaking. say over a year ago. we will say "john doe" RAN FROM THE COPS. thru 3 or 4 townships. but got away, because either the cops could not read the tag and or they couldn't keep up, or just decided it wasn't worth they're time... now a year later. john doe was hanging out with a few friends in a parking lot, and one cop rolls up and thinks they recognize something from that vehicle from a vehicle that ran from him last year, they get into a convo and john doe either doesn't realize what he is saying or just didnt think the cop could do anything since it was from a year ago and admitted that a year ago that was him who ran and got away... hypothetically speaking if this were to happen could the cop have grounds to arrest john doe and or could john doe get in any kind of trouble... thanx
ok so i haven't gotta a response to this! prolly because some, if not all the police officers on here who have read this thing. think that maybe i had done this in the past and was condoning the situation, but thats far from it... i was just sitting around one day and i wondered if it were possible to get in trouble for something an officer thought u did over a year ago and not having proof that it was u... so if i shed some light on this maybe someone could fill me in... curiosity killed the cat!

all crimes have a statute of limitations that if you commit a crime and the statute doesn't run out for X amount of time and you get snagged for it down the road yes you can still be charged.
