got pulled over today. 2 charges, street racing and reckless driving. 10 points. and 600 in fines. im screwed. one sof my old friends from high school pulled up next to me in a jeep at a light. joking around he pealed out at the light. like a dumbass , i followed. i made it 100 yards before a car pullled out ahead of me, so i slowed down. i diont think i ever made it out if second gear (i hit 50 max, the speed limit was 50) my freind blew by me and kept going. next thing i know a cop was on my but. i get screwed. my freind never even got pulled over. Lifes great. im probobly gonna take it to court. try to at least keep my license. any advice anyone.?

I haven't told too many people about this because I don't want people to think a get out of jail free is easy....

I was pulled over on the BLVD in Philly for racing like a dumb ass.. I knew better, I usually don't street race, but I was caught up in the moment. I was going light to light with another kid... we both stopped at a light and a cop came and boxed us in... we each got 1 ticket for street racing and the penalties were as follows: 2200 dollar fine, 5 points, 6 month loss of license.

It was devastating... I am in a career and I cared about not getting work more then anything else... I was depressed.. I called out the next day and slept till 8PM. I retained a lawyer for 1200 that was a total dead beat that never returned my calls, didnt show up in court... 6 months went by and somehow I got an easy judge... My layer got it reduced to a 300 dollar fine only...

Needless to say the 6 months of torture were enough to make me never do it again. I would constantly have mood swings to where I could be happy and then flip out the second I thought about it. I coulda had the book thrown at me and even had my car crushed or auctioned off... Philly likes to do that.

plead not guilty and take it to court. Dont admit you were racing and see what you can do. if you do get away with it.. DONT STREET RACE... I learned my lesson, but I constantly see the other kid at meets and he still races on the street. Its really not worth the risks, just like a DUI.

The 2nd time I went an saw the cop himself an made a deal with him that if I gave up the 2nd persons name he'd drop all chargers. Street racing is kinda hard to prove. Your going to need to put together a solid story.

Does a street racing ticket need to involve another car? You can say you were doing a 0-60 test and get it taken down to a reckless if your lucky.

If street racing charge just means you were racing yourself, then that sucks.

You got nailed bad. You would think he would of done enough damage with one of the charges and forget the other one.

I had petty much the exact experience VR-4.

I was coming home from UTI for the weekend. Worked my assss off for the last year to achieve my goal. I just was accepted to Audi Academy, had my final interview that week. I was stoked, life was perfect. To get in the academy you were not allowed any points on your license. I was 21 and had no points. I was coming home and I was in Mount Holly, NJ on route 38 the 2 lane, center divided highway. Coming down 38 a trans-am was pacing me. We came to a light and we both left the light not WOT but 3/4 still moving fairly quickly. I didn't realize at that light the speed limit changed from 55mph to 35mph. So we both passed cop hiding in a parking lot at around 60-65mph. He immediately came out and pulled me over, let the trans am go. Didn't say a word to me. "License/ Reg." thats all. Came back with 3 tickets reckless driving, street racing, and 65 in a 35mph. 5 points each, 15 points total. In 30 seconds my life was destroyed.

Depressed for the next 3 months, cold sweats, not sleeping, scared of loosing my license and getting kicked out of the school I just worked my butt off to get into. Got a lawyer, paid out the butt for him like $1,500-$1,600. Went to court and the Judge dropped the street racing, and dropped the reckless, the 65mph was reduced to 50mph in a 35mph. I pretty sure it was 3 points and around $800-$1000 in fines. The next week I went to defensive driving class. And wrote a long email to Audi Academy admittance officer explaining the situation and too please help overlook my mistake/error. Witch he did.

Bring a lawyer! And try to find one from the area you are going to court. Someone who knows the prosecutor it will help you. Be on-time, be polite, dress nice, and pray.

thanks guys. a buddy of mine got in a worse situation (caused 5 car pile up during a race, and fled, lol... in the same disrict too.) . and made it out ok with a lawyer. i"ll be callin that lawyer tomorrow for an appointment. and it also turns out that i work with the recently retired police chief of that district. so i plan on having a chat with him tomorrow as well. im gonna stay honest with this and hope for the best, because what really happened (i guess could sitll be considered aggressive driving) was no where near deserving of the fines i recieved. thanks for your advice. ill let yah know whats going on with it...

even if you dont get a lawyer and you show up to court 99% of times you can go in talk to the procecuter and have it dropped to a lesser charge(tho they usually charge you with something that is the same cost since the goverment IS a business)... which is exactly wat a lawyer does... just deny that it was street racin (have a good story and stick with it, since you never sped)... and i would ask ur buddy the retired police chief to make a call for you

Are you kidding me? He's an idiot. Street racing in traffic AND causing a 5 car pile up... and then running. I wished they took his license away.

I got pulled over on 309 while racing some civic. Got hit with 100.3 in a 55 and wreckless driving. Plead guilty, Paid a load of fines. Graduated from UTI 5 months later thinking it would be impossible to find a job.

Well after getting a job surprisingly easy, I asked my manager about my background check/driving record. He said it came back clean! No clue how. But I have not street raced since, and have no plans to in the future.

I'm pretty sure 100.3 in a 55 should have been an instant loss and the cop said I was lucky he wasn't taking me to jail. He also said he stopped me and not the other guy because I won the race lol. I didn't even see a day of suspension. I considered it the luckiest day of my life. I still have the tickets some where.

I've had numerous (lol... ran out of fingers and toes) tickets and have NEVER brought a lawyer. Dress nice, plead your case. If your record is clean, you will be ok and maybe even get some of your money back. But don't do it again.

Cuz you are too effin baller! Good luck with the tickets and such though man. I lost my license for 6 months, 6 months after getting it. Reckless driving. Took me 6 months to get a hearing (so I had already served my 6 month suspension) and they dropped it to careless and 3 months suspension. (Does a lot of good after already serving the 6 right? lol)

take it to court. do not plead guilty.
i beat a street racing ticket in philly a few years back basically by just showing up. ask if they will just make it a fine instead of points. im sure you can work something out.
