what is the most cost effective way that i can start puting money into my car and see some real numbers? i was thinking of going super charged but kits start around $5000 for stage two. the least expensive turbo kit that i found was around $6000. should i not worry about a kit and just start buying the parts for a turbo? does anyone know where i can get a centrivical sc without buying the kit? should i worry about other things with my car. i.e. suspension, wheels+tires, I just want to know where to start i have the stage 3 clutch and flywheel but where should i go next. i know i asked alot of questions but i need some advice  :help:

Clutch and flywheel are good but if you have tons of power and no traction u will not go anywhere. I would say wheels and tires then power. To be honest i am not totally familar with the 2.3 engine however i would say the active autowerke supercharger. aside from that there are a few other good comanies out there making good stuff. However i am not sure if the 2.3 is the best baseline u may be better off trying to find a 2.5 or a 3.0 from a totalled car from a junkyard and starting there.

This might be a longshot but look around and see if you can find a wrecked e36 M3 and do an M motor swap. It should be near a direct swap.

Go onto the message board on www.grassrootsmotorsports.com
and post something about looking for more power. There are alot of guys on there who have experience with beemers and engine swaps and getting power also. I'm sure a trip to bimmerforums.com also could give you some ideas and insight.

If your gonna do a swap i have seen small blocks put in 3series so lets just go that route.

Just to clarify for you guys it is not a 2.3 liter engine. It is a 2.5 with OBDII emisions. I am not sure, but I think it is the same motor as the 325 just different emisions. I would swap it to OBDI and then piece together a turbo kit.

Always the most cost efficient way to do it...I put my kit together for about $600-700 max, when kits out there go for about 3,000 for Turboed and 4,000 for Supercharging.

If you look around for a used one, you might be able to pick one up for about $1,000-1,250.

Good Luck man!

Try giving Zygmunt Motors in Doylestown a call. 215-348-3121. They are a Bmw specialist garage and they me able to help you located a wrecked M3 donor car and everything else.

UPDATE - the tranny is okay i broke the bracket that holds the tranny to the frame. so i may still have money to add to the power trip that i am on.

if you've got the loot for it, contact Rogue Engineering www.rebmw.com

they have a featured car in this months Bimmer Magazine. A 330i ZHP with an S54 transplanted along with a mess of other goods. this is their second conversion after their M3/5 conversion.

I don't recommend that you play around with building your own supercharger kit for the M52TUB25 motor. you're still gonna have to find tuning for it since a rising rate fuel pressure regulator will not do the trick for you.

look up VF Engineering or Active Autowerke (VF > AA) for ready to install supercharger solutions. ESS also builds a kit for your car but they are based in Europe so the remote tune takes a bit longer to do.

for the money, I'd go with VF, they also use GIAC software and a Vortech blower where as AA uses the enimic Rotex superhcarge (think corrodo g60).

you state that you have a stage III clutch already....from who?

THEMADHATTER- the clutch is from clutchmaster and the flywheel i got from bavarian autosport. i looked into their supercharger also but i think i need to start off with some suspension first. get the car lowered and gripping the ground then add the power. do you know mike honeycutt he thinks that he knows you?

I know plenty of Mikes.....I don't know their last names though. it's very possible but if he's from PA, I doubt it.

do yourself a favor and upgrade to at least 330i brakes or better before you go for bigger power. more power will get you faster then you realize, you'll want the extra heat capacity of the larger rotors.
