So the all new and much improved 2011 Focus hatch has been debuted at Detroit. We should see it in showrooms sometime next year. Things get better though. Motortrend confirms we are getting a RS/SVT version with 250hp (QQ GTI owners).
This should certainly shake things up for Ford's compact market, the Fiesta will also be ecoboosted. Boost for all appears to be Ford's new moto.

I've been waiting and again. "I won't believe it until I see it in the US"

Awesome car but I am shocked that they are using the 2 liter instead of the 2.5 liter. The 2 l ecoboost is excellent but the 2.5 l is a mature engine that has proven itself bullet proof and able to get over 300 hp and 30 mpg.

"Under the hood, the new 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder is designed from the outset for 250 horsepower, and mates to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission as well as a six-speed manual."

THANK YOU GOD!!!

Finally, an affordable twin clutch car!

MAZDA, ARE YOU LISTENING?!!!!!!

$40k focus' don't fly in the united states.

The stis and evos are damn near 40k fully loaded and they sell.

Also, Euro prices converted to dollars isnt a good way to tell what a car would cost here. Relatively, cars cost more in europe and way more in the UK especially.

For example, and RX7 back in the day costed the equivalent of $68,000 in England. But they never even got near that brand new here in the states.

I forget which block they are using with the ecoboost. The old 2.0 zetec was able to handle 300+ reliably, and the duratec as a 2.0 and 2.3 are able to push way beyond that. The whole idea of implementing the ecoboost is to lower displacement and raise mpg while keeping or apparently improving performance.

I agree it sucks they are taking away the 2.5 (wait we never had it except for in the Volvo), and so far I have yet to read even a rumor from a reliable source on AWD. But hey, this can keep costs down. And the current FWD RS in Europe has some crazy LSD or something like it that has been praised. But what do those bloats know?

I wanted to buy FordMC at 2dollars... I'm still debating purchasing some at $11.

now it just needs AWD, then it would be really really badass

Aren't these engines DI? Isn't DI much more difficult to work with when it comes to serious modding?

The Revo Knuckle seems to work very well for eliminating torque steer even with FWD. I understand the reasoning, and am still SUPER excited for this car, but as you can tell by my sig i have a soft spot for that 2.5.

Yes the RevoKnuckle... sounds like some german kinky crap.

I didn't even notice you were pushing the T5, I never understood why Ford did not implement it in more vehicles in the US. It's probably better off they never would ave marketed correctly.

nope...DI BMWs, VWs and Chevys are making tons of power. The MS3/6 just got the crappy end of the stick as far as the capabilities of the stock block and tuning.

Of course with the Mazda/Ford relationship it could be the same situation for them too.

You are totally correct- they would have gone way under utilized and wouldn't have had the support they needed.

I think not using the 2.5 is a smart business move on Ford's part as well. This way they won't have to worry about licensing the engine from Geely (assuming they are the ones that buy Volvo).

The new focus is well-needed and already looks promising. Ford is on top in my books. I am SO glad ford is finally listening to the ethusianst.

Ecoboost will be in all fords by 2013 IIRC. Which is a really smart move by ford offering 2 or more engines on all of its line-up. I also beleive that the feista is going to be getting the 2.0 or 1.6 eco treatment along with a 1.3 ecoboost 3 clyinder. Now that is just plan cool.

Good god the headlights/grill/vents are CRAZY but somehow they work and look GREAT!

The ass end looks great too, and I think this is the first time I've seen the headlight/taillight housing stretched out (370z style) where it actually looks good!

I like the current gen style more, not a fan of the tailights or the front vents but hey if it's the only Focus RS coming to the states then beggers can't be choicers. Who knows maybe Honda will grow some balls and bring over the Civic Type R over. Then it'll really be interesting.

I'm glad this is finally coming to the US. I loved my SVT Focus. I'm also glad they are using the 2.0 instead of the 2.5. 2.5 and bigger should be a V6 :-)
