TST Poll: Who Owns A Car Cover?

With the snow we just got I've seen a TON of pictures on Facebook. BUT I have not seen a single picture of a car with a cover on it! What's up with that?

So with that said. Do YOU own a car cover?

Me, I own a Budget car cover. Has been on my car all winter and has done a great job. Plus my car sits under sappy trees when I can't drive it so it helps that way too lol.

Even when my car was running i'd cover it almost every night haha.

Both my vr4 and my motorcycle stay under a cover in my garage... I have the vinyl ones from Rain-X.. they work great and dont scratch anything..

DO NOT get the cheap cloth ones.. i used one on my vr4 back when I lived in an apartment.. the thing left dust all over my car and eventually deteriorated into nothing...

My integra shell that's waiting for the turbo set up has been under a cover for the past few months. It woks great for keeping bird poo off and pollen.

I have a custom Grigio (sp?) cover that was like $500 but I never use it because I have a garage.

IMO covers are awful unless you use them to store your car for long periods at a time. I think its funny when people drive their cars on a daily bases, and than put a car cover on at night, simply because when you do that, your getting dirt from the driven car onto the inside of the cover, and than it defeats the purpose. My dad will usually only put them on his m3's right after they have been washed, and if they don't get washed, than they don't get a cover.

I don't have a spot for my solstice right now so it sits outside. Can't really drive it right now. summer tires only. Oh and obviously I don't hav a cover for it. :(

I have a California Car Cover for the Supra... I've only used it inside a garage while the car sits for the winter so far but it would get super dusty otherwise so its helped out with that at least.

I do own a car cover but also keep my car garaged. I don't use the cover though unless the car will be sitting for an extended period of time, I drive it all the time.

I have one, haven't used it in awhile but when my race car would be at the track over night I would put a car cover on it, but now it sits in a trailer and my mustang sits in the garage. The daily gets all the weather thrown at it.

You clearly don't have:

A: A nice car worth keeping clean
B: A black car
C: Care about washing your car frequently to keep it clean

When I didn't have a garage I used it all the time especially during the pollen season. That way I'd keep it nice and clean and wouldn't have to wash it every other day.

Now I just park in the garage. I'll probably start throwing on the cover at work when it gets nice out again even though the guys at work will bust my balls. It's way to dusty at work.

And as another option sometimes I'll put the car cover on inside the garage!

The cover will sandwich even a small amount of dust and dirt between the cover and your paint and even at best could cause light scratching.
It'll also get dirt on the inside of the cover, and unless you wash it before use next time, will perpetuate the problem above by introducing more dirt to even a clean car.

i do the same thing. my old subie was always under my cover unless it was going to rain. mine is cloth so it doesnt keep out moisture. but i almost always wipe the car down before it goes under.

My vote is in the my garage is my car cover, But I do have a car cover on my Green Fiero while its in my garage. My garage is a very high traffic/use area. We enter and exit through the garage of my house rather than the front door so my whole family is always walking between my 2 fieros, Carrying grocereys in and out, My grandmother is handycapped and walks past it with her walker, I usualy do work on my 87 with my 86 in the garage, A car cover also offeres protection to the car from things rubbing up aganst it. Mine is a simple $20 wal-mart car cover and does its job very well. Right now it is not on though.

A cover is pretty pointless around my way. Would probably just get stolen or messed with. Sad I know lol

If my Camaro isn't being driven or I don't plan to drive it again that day I usually cover it. The paint is horrible so it didn't really matter, but up until recently I had to keep the car outside all the time, so hopefully the extra protection was worth something. Thankfully my garage is almost finished, although I think I'll still keep it covered when its inside.

I have a cover for the TL but I never use it unless I'm going on vacation for something longer than a few days.

IMO, car covers simply don't make sense for a DD...but they're great for long term storage.
