Lancaster caravan for Sonic Meet

The 4th Annual Sonic Meet has been moved back to next Sunday, May 2nd due to weather.

The forecast hasn't improved so we've decided its going to be best to move the meet back in hopes of holding it on a nicer day. I apologize to all of those who this creates an issue for. We all wished for perfect weather on the original date, but its out of our control and it wouldn't be right to intentionally hold the meet in wet weather. Believe me, I know this is a frustrating situation, but we're working with what we have here and keeping a positive attitude about having a great charity event next Sunday on a warm sunny day.

Looking good so far guys, we've got about 50 cars expected for this caravan alone. The directions I've posted take us to 322 and 23 as opposed to the turnpike. Is this OK with everyone? When I went to the Sonic Meet last year (different caravan), everyone had to wait after the tolls before continuing, which was a big mess.

You might want to choose a different location at Park City Mall. There's an autocross that day so the normal meet spot won't have any parking. Your better off meeting across the street at Ollie's.

Actually were down with going anyway you guys want to, but down the turn pike is a lot of fun, there are so many caravans merging together onto the turn pike, you get to see the pa turn pike get flooded with Tuners......Thats all part of the fun.......and a great thing to get on video!!!

I think the alternate route is a great idea. It might be a little funny to watch the toll booths be swamped .. but speaking from a more realistic viewpoint, it really is a mess -- and an accident waiting to happen. Not to mention very inconsiderate to other 'normal' drivers that are just trying to tend to their own business.

from on the map it is maybe a few more miles so it really is negligable in my opinion i say backroads to just stay outta the way and not piss anybody off bc all the tpike commision has to do is alert psp and we could all be screwed so i say we stay low key as possible if ya know what i mean

I just wanna reinforce this, last year we had a pretty good sized group, we of course got split up off the turnpike and some people had trouble getting to Sonic because they weren't prepared with their own directions. Also, we won't be waiting for anybody this year, 10:45 we leave SHARP!!

Our car club has passed out a ton of flyers promoting this event and our caravan...so i hope somebody pulls it together from the Lancaster side!! Last year we took the turn pike and it was quick and easy!!! The back ways of going through small towns is going to be longer then what you guys are expecting!! Yea on the turn pike you have to pay, and it takes a few mins to get through the toll booths when there flooded with tuners lol, but seeing that is also the part of the experience of all the tristate area coming together into one spot!!!!

I agree. I'm down for the turnpike, and if thats the case we could take 30 to 222, then 222 to the Denver exit on the turnpike. If thats the route we take, Its not hard at all...I just dont feel like being the first car.

That one person could be in your group too just as well as ours and from what i remember last year there were about 70 cars at sears.....in the rain....before we even got there!!! So your odds of having that one person are going to be just as likely!!!!

almost everyone in our group is on the forum or is friends with someone in the forum. i think its awesome you got a huge group together. but im sure there are people in your group that arent familiar with how this works (unless you explained it on the flier they read). i guess we will see how it works:)

I hope/trust our locals know better. :) The last big meet I attended with less than 20 cars trying to follow eachother ended with an accident from people trying to pull racecar moves to merge into traffic so they wouldn't get lost. yeah we got split up so people were either going 50 waiting or 80 trying to catch up. and it made the group split up more. we should have pulled off the service area on the turnpike and got the group together
