So another season is about to start, last time i made a thread like this for 09 there wasn't to much interest for discussions, maybe this year we get more fans lol. Maybe even a cruise to the poconos races or dover races.

Many people think NASCAR is just cars going in circles, (i was one of them) until I started to realize, NASCAR is awesome. Not only do strategies play a major factor, but also drafting, teams, drivers, spotters, etc. Its a really fun sport if you really pay attention to whats going on and not just watch it for the crashes.

This season is gonna be great with Jimmie, Montoya and other great drivers. Danica Patrick is actually gonna run a few races in the nationwide car so that should be interesting also.

My brother actually invited me to go down to Florida for the Daytona 500 as a kinda birthday gift lol so we might actually fly or drive down there.

With that said, any other NASCAR fans here?

watching nascar is boring. going to an actual race is kinda fun but the rolex 24 was way better. if you go you should go for the whole 2 weeks. its basically every redneck come to daytona and takes over every bar. that was fun.

The last 10 minutes of a Nascar race is what is worthwhile watching. Everything leading up to that, is boring.

I could care less about NASCAR until I really watched a race or two or three. Yes they go in circles and if that's all you let yourself see, I would hope you find it boring! If you can see what's going on it's a great sport!

My prediction is Danica won't do crap this year! Jr. still won't perform either. You have to love NASCAR to run good and I get the feeling Jr. doesn't have the love his father did.

To those of you who say racing is left turn left turn blah blah blah. What sport do you like? I'd be more then glad to criticize that sport. Racing is NOT just left turns. There is a whole lot of skill and strategy involved. O yeah, Its a very physically demanding sport as well. I advise you to go to your local short track and see whats its all about. Yeah, not everyone is going to like nascar or local short track oval racing, but you can't knock it until you have gone and watched and actually experienced it for your self. I really do advise those haters to go to a local short track and pay to go into the pits to get a grasp on how things are really done. You also get to see things that you can't get to see from the stands.

Anyway, back on topic. I can't wait for this season to start. Should be a good season. Nationwide is running at Road America this year which should be spectacular. They took away the bump drafting rules and cup and gave them a bigger restrictor plate at Daytona/Talladega putting it more in the drivers hands and they are looking to go back to a spoiler! Should be interesting to see how that plays a role when they do the testing for it at Charlotte.

yea, i heard about the bump drafting and about taking off the wing lol. the new drafting rules should make it even more interesting. im going to daytona 500, dover and poconos if anyone wants to tag along

I haven't followed much of the offseason news but I'm looking forward to it this year. Last year I didn't happen to get to sit down and watch many of the races. I hope to be able to sit back and relax to watch them more. Hope the chase isn't as quite a blowout like last years.

The shootout was pretty crazy. Hope most of the 500 is like that.

I agree with you about JR. but not the reason. Honestly I think he does have the love for the sport he is just tired of being compared to his father. Just because he is his son doesn't mean he should be as good, yet everyone expects him to be just like his dad. ( Not saying you do. I mean the media.)

That's a good point. Ever notice his interviews after races? He is almost never passionate about anything that happened during the race. Sometimes he can barely speak and gives really bad interviews.

I have been down in Daytona a couple times. Never for the 500 becuase for some reason my dad and I like to watch it on tv. Anyways say the IROC, trucks, Gatorade 125s and the Busch race in 2001. Was down there the year that Dale Earnhardt passed away.

Anyways, saw the last 20 some laps of the shootout and thought it was a good race. This should be an exciting start to the finish. In the Nationwide race, Mike Wallace's daughter is racing, the first father daughter racing in the same race.

I was drawn to Nascar cause i used to have be home on Sunday's. Since nothing else was on i started paying attention 2 season ago. As of now, i cant say that i would miss something to watch a full race but i like the last 25 laps of a race. I also like road courses more than ovals. The super speedways are my 2nd favorite tracks. Plus wathing the night races on HD seems like a movie to me. The mix of colors, speed, and sound make it a great experience. I cant wait for the night races.

I became a fan of Tony Stewert because he didnt seem to be the cookie cutter guy after a win. He seemed more out spoken than the other drivers and would speak his mind. Now that he is a team owner he is more tame. Plus he is an accomplished driver in open and closed wheel cars.

The only thing i still dont understand is why Toyota cars where changed a few years back because they were winning on a week to week basis. If someone could explain what changed and why i would appreciate it.

i used to watch it all the time, dale sr was/is my favorite driver.I hate gordon and johnson. now i only watch daytona and dega.and it would be awesome if they went back to the old car. i really hate the car of tomorrow

HickRocket1258
02-13-2010, 11:19 AM
Yeah, my uncle was a big Dale Sr fan and when he passed away he sort of lost interest in it. I think he has gotten back into it but not quite as much as he used to. The car of tomorrow doesn't look as nice but they do need to be concerened about their safety.

What a great race for sure. My dad and I were making all sorts of noise when we saw JR came out of nowhere. Real happy to see McMurray win. He's a real stand up guy and was real happy for him. Michael Waltrip cars did well. 5th, 6th, and 19th for Waltrip himself.

jcr557
02-17-2010, 02:39 PM
The race was awesome except for the delays, and it was freezing down there for what they're use to. Most Floridians left cause it was "unbearable" lol. Other than the long delays, it was a great race. I bought pit passes and saw a couple drivers about two feet in front of me as well and their crew chiefs and pit crew. I signed my name on the finish line. I also rented the radios to listen to the communication between drivers, crew chiefs and spotters and I was listening to 48, 18, and 42. They have some pretty interesting conversations during the race lol, some not even race related lol.

It sucks for the Atlanta racetrack owner cause he had to sell tickets for a dollar due to McMurray winning lol. Him winning was a good outcome although not what I expected. I would imagine his team mate Montoya is pissed off at himself cause he hasn't won an oval yet and his new team mate comes at wins the 500 lol. McMurray is also good at road courses and so is JPM so Infeneon should be interesting. Remember JPM won his first sprint cup race in a road course passing McMurray.

Final thought, I remember when I won my first autocross so I can only imagine how it feels to win the Daytona 500 lol. Overall I would say 10/10 and most deffinetly going there again next year.

Now on my way back, I stopped in NC to visit the shops. I visited Hendricks Motorsports, Roush Racing, and Earnhardt Ganassi Racing.

It sucks that right when I was walking into the track, the camera decided to stop working so everything I have is pictures taking by my iPhone 3GS.

Nice pictures. I know the exact same feeling winning for the first time. It brings me back to my first win in my Street Stock. It was amazing to say the least! Should have stopped at North Wilkesboro speedway. A LOT of history at that track.

For some of you Nascar fans in here have any of you seen that tv series on the History channel called Madhouse? I would highly recomend it. It follows a local modified series down south. Just started watching it ondemand and it's great in my opininon.

I'll watch that show when i get a chance. Missed it last week though. It's a good show but some of it is ridiculous. lol. Being a racecar driver and being around modifieds and such I see what goes on. The bumping and fighting. Thats real and fun to watch sometimes. lol. All and all its good tv. Bert Myers is a good driver. He won the North South shootout race this year.

Traffic is always a pain to any nascar race you go to. You just gotta be there early and you'll be fine.

Yesterdays was great and Jamie should of won it. He deserved it.

Also, do you know anything about US Legend cars? I've been reading about it and might ge tinvolved with them in a couple months.

I was just looking at tickets for the Dover race for me and wife. I've never been to Dover before, anyone have any good suggestions for seats? I was looking at turn 3 and 4 about 3/4 up the stands. Its $96 a ticket. That might be a little steep for me right now. Other seats are $65 for the front straight lower seats.

Anyone recomend any good seating?

jcr557

At dover, it doesn't matter where you sit cause from any section you can see the whole track. I myself bought those $96 tickets for turn 1 I blieve which is section Red

Charlotte Motor Speedway isn't too bad, actually. There are five roads leading to and from the track, three of which are two lanes each way. I went to a few races while I lived in Charlotte. Great track, great events. I also got to drive my Mustang on pit lane when I showed with a Mustang club at the AutoFair show. It's just a really cool place. If you ever get a chance to go down for the race in October (used to be Bank of America 400 or something), do it. They sold $100 tickets that got you a seat at the dirt track race on Thursday, Nationwide race Friday, and the Cup race on Saturday.

I have 2 exta tickets for the Dover race. They are $110 for both. Its Section 141, Row 7 and its numbered seats next to each other. I'm not in that section, my brother bought these tickets but decided to go with another section so he asked me to sell them for him. If interested PM me cause the tickets are my possession.
