Cowl Hoods

Is it illegal to have a cowl hood on your car and if not how tall is it aloud to be. I'm interested in getting a 4" cowl hood for my car.

That would all fall under obsrtuction of view.. if that hood is half way up your windsield your gonna get stopped.. I cant seem to locate anything about that in my books i'll keep looking
