So I'm debating trading my GTO in for a new G8 GT. Only reason is because the 0% financing will negate the few bucks of negative equity I have. My payments will actually stay about the same in the end.
It is a 4 door, same preforance class as I have right now, but has a warrenty!
Only negative is I'm 1/2 way done paying the GTO off and starting a loan all over again makes me sad even though the monthly payments are less.
Whatcha think. Plus if I do trade the GTO I'll be parting it out first also. I have most of the stock parts so I'll be putting about $2500 down just from that.

I'd do it a sedan is a better idea and much more practical.

New > Old.
Your car is already more than 5 years old, get a G8 GT, the payments may start all over again...however so does the fun. They're baller, and I want one badly, but I want a GXP.

Actually looked at the GXP and it wasn't worth the extra money. I would swap my heads/cam to the G8GT that I have in the GTO and it would whoop the GXP ass. But the LXP does have the LS3... Can't justify spending $5k for a block I won't use the potential off and brakes.

Well, you could always use the brakes
I say do it. That's just me though.
Do it.
I'd also prefer the GXP .. but the GT is definitely good, too.

Also worried that will these hold their value remotly or will it plumet worse then normal? My GTO was worth $22k when I bought it... now they are selling for $13000 in less then 2 years they died. I know the economy is bad, but still...

^^ Sig quote FTW.
Win.

Between both cars, the G8 is more likely to hold it's value, simply because more people would be inclined to buy it as opposed to a 2 door wanna be Corvette that weighs the same as the 4 door.

I just read GM was offering $7K in incentives for remaining Pontiac and Saturn vehicles...
it's a sign.
I never cared much for the new GTOs anyways.

Offer is 0% 72 months + $1000 cash or like $5000. I'll get a better deal doing the 0% though. I sware yesterday it was $1500 and 0%. I'm gonna wait a week and see if it changes again. I can hold out longer then the dealers since I don't really need to buy today.

i would say keep your gto and pay it off. buying anything on credit is never a great idea unless you absolutely have to. by the time your gto is paid off, you can sell it and buy a used g8 and save money in the end. and then you wont have any more payments:)

G8 GTs are sweet. I saw a silver one on 352 in Brookhaven romp on it tonight and it sounded nice n loud. I think every car made with an LS motor is great. Interior is nice like the GTO's. I bet they will hold their value well over the long term, considering it is the last new model Pontiac ever made. 0% is hard to beat too lol... You're probably looking at one of the best bargains out there right now. I would consider a GTO at the prices you mentioned a bargain as well.

my girlfriend's mom had a g8 it was pretty sweet and quick, she had it for a year and just traded it in for a doge charger srt8 but she dident loose a dime on it, so i say they hold their value pretty good, i would go for the g8 their more pratical but the only downside is they dont come in manual..

better car - cheaper monthly - warranty.
Tough to swallow another X months of payments, but financially, if you put all difference (of the GTO payment v the G8 payment) into an interest bearing account (CDs, Money Market) you could have a nice little bit of cash saved up for a down payment on the NEXT one.

Probally isn't going to happen anyway... I can't find many G8 GTs arround. Most are V6s.

i just bought one 3 weeks ago...got 0% financing plus $1500 cash back. I sold my 99 Formula to pick this up. go to a dealer and tell them you want one and they'll get it for you. they might not have it on their lot but they can dealer trade one for you like my dealer did for me.
the car is awsome and its faster than my stock Formula was which is a plus. for me it was the right choice b/c i have a new born and needed the 4 doors plus i still have the TwinTurbo Ws.6 sitting in the garage so i didnt really lose out.

awesome plate lol can i get that for my camaro lol looks good. If you had an 05-06 GTO i'd probably say no but the G8 GT's are most likely a nice engine upgrade for the 04's.

I wouldn't call it an engine upgrade at all. 15HP difference stock... Only cool thing is my heads/cam will also work with the L76 block of the G8 and I already have stuff to tune it. I've read there is sooo much power from just a tune because it is very conserative and the TQ management is through the roof on the A6. I would guess easy 400 RWHP when I swap my parst and retune.
Trouble is finding them. Don't want silver or black and def must have 19s...
^^ If you really want to do it, I'm sure that your local dealership will find a way to make it happen. Remember, YOU are the customer and THEY are the ones that want your money -- either they get you what you want, or your money stays in your pocket.
