View Full Version : Sourcing a turbo setup

I'm kicking around the idea of removing my SC and going turbo. I'd like 285-300 whp, nothing crazy. I already have rc 440's a 255, and Hondata s300 so the support is there. I'm trying to determine what I'd need to make the switch and rough costs involved. I've never pieced a kit together and all the input I've gotten suggests that it's a better route then a pre-fabbed kit. So, I need to decide on a turbo, an i/c, and what else? What about the piping? Are there kits for that or does that have to be fabbed up? What else would I need?

Exhaust manifold, turbo, entire exhaust, if you run an external wastegate need either a dump pipe or replumb it in addition to the wastegate, intercooler, all piping, boost controller, etc.

Turbo GS-Rs are fun.

I was planning on a Bisimoto ceramic coated header and TR&D 3" exhaust.

Your best bet will be www.Honda-tech.com for info on this subject. If you can, I'd just buy a full kit rather then nickle and dime yourself to death. If you have to piece it together (like most of us have to) be sure to only buy quality parts even if it takes longer to obtain. Also Def. go with a tubular manifold rather then cast (cast is cheaper, but not efficient, holds to much heat at the head, and usually gives a sh*tty rhythm to the exhaust pulses).

If you have the money Id go with the Full-race.com set up with the Garrett GT2860RS. It doesn't get much better then a fully researched then developed system like they have.. Not cheap though..

whatever you do.. no ebay china crap... and just see what's out there. intercooler piping and exhaust can be simple or custom to whatever your needs are and how much money you have lol.

i would look at some already in-use ideas and built apon them further. that would be a good place to start. see what works and what dose not.

gt30, tubular manifold, fmic, custom piping, tial bov, tial wg, dump tube, downpipe(im assuming you already have exhaust?), fpr. that should prob be it? oh, and DRs, a dc with 300whp is going to be hard to get moving.

Gotta pay to play man Especially with the Type R under the hood.

http://www.inlinepro.com/s1/p-57-b-series-t3-turbo-kit.aspx
http://www.turbo-kits.com/integra_turbo_kits.html

There is a lot of other things to considering, like your E-manage. if you wanna go something like aem or you wanna get an ecu thats chipped.
Your fuel, exhaust flow. really you gotta make a list of what you have, and what you need, and then people can help give you a better idea as to what you looking at price wise, what you do/dont need, etc.

he mentioned he already has hondata s300 btw

if you're shooting for around 300whp i would do a gt28rs or gt2871r for quick spooling power.
