Well last night i was leaving a party and while on my way home i stopped at a stop sign and when i came to a complete stop i noticed smoke coming out of my hood. :bigeek: First thing i did was check my gauges, oil pressure and water temp are fine. Realizing im only about a half mile from my garage i figure i might as well high tale it there and check things out. I pull in, look underneath and sure enough my jeep is spitting anti-freeze out of the freeze plug on the block.:mad: So basically im going back down there now to try and replace the freeze plug but i've never actually done this before, my question is... how do i remove the old one?? any advice would be appreciated.. thanks guys!

i usually use a screwdriver to poke a hole in them, the ether use a hook tool or the screw driver to dry them out, sometimes you can get lucky and hit the one side of them and have them spin in there, but its risky

yea i was thinking about drilling through the center of it, then using my hooked screwdriver to pull it out..but im thinking metal shavings would go inside it.. if i try to bang a screwdriver through the center of it, will i risk it just pushing all the way through??

put grease on your drill bit and go slow.. the grease will catch the metal shavings

This is why I loved my old 99.

No freeze plug problems could ever develop.
