So i was thinking of possibly getting some people together to go out to an old abandoned factory or something of that sorts to take some pictures.
Somewhere around Bucks and Montgomery Counties, not too far.
If anyone had any ideas of a location please post it and where it is located!
Then ill set up some more details after a location is decided upon!

I can try to look up some stuff. I know of some stuff up my area, just not down that way. Give me until tomorrow to find out some stuff if no one else knows of anything off the top of their head.

Cant go inside, its chained off. LOL so we have to get permission and someone to remove the chains.
One of my coworkers used to work there, she said like 2 years ago there was a fire back there, and took the firefighters like 2 hours to get to it because of the stuff in the way. haha. So this has to be planed if we are allowed to go in. Just the front enterence is cool looking.
I work like 1 block from the place lol

Been there on one of my Midnight drunk binges with a few of my friends. All the entrences are gated off and you can get in serious trouble if your caught there. only way in is though a brush of trees through a very small neighborhood.

I've definitely shot that one a few times with the paintball gun. haha.
A bunch of us (work) used to play paintball there over the summer.
It might be late enough into the fall for it to not matter, but last time I was there the weeds on the sides of the "road/path" were at least 3' tall...over 6' in other areas. I'd say check it out before you get a bunch of cars back there.
Assuming you can get in the gates...it would make for an amazing set though...

Sounds good!
I saw on my way home from Philly (on rt 76, going away from the city)yesterday somewhere on my right past the zoo exit that looked really sweet for photographing. It was a building with the tops and some sides torn down. This would be an EXCELLENT location if we could get cars in it.

Could only get out for a quick ride this morning, but this is what I got so far.. M.C. since you were on 76 heading away from the city, did you see the train tunnel on the left right past Belmont Ave exit? I know I can get us down there too, But the other side of the tunnel is way better and will go there to see if we can get access to it.. Here's some pics as promised..
This is an active plant, but I know people who work there and we can get on site if needed...It's HUGE!!!

Well you spelled federal offense wrong and the US government doesn't own it.
Call up Randy Bates, he supposedly bought the school, and ask for permission

There is a popular abandoned glass factory by you but I don't know if you can get it by driveway, you can ask around locally, someone might know

Big deal everyone knows I cant spell to save my life. The property is state owned unless some new activity has taken place in the past year and a half. The property is goverment owned because it was a state funded school. He may own other smaller buildings and such on the property but you dont get 12 hour PM to earley AM police patroll around and at the entrences to the facility for a privately owned property. And on top of all of this if you did get permission you would need to buy the same type of insurance that miata chick Stated was needed for the brewery so its not even worth arguing about.
Now there is a place in phoenixville it is an operational facility but I have taken pictusrs there before way back in the day at night and they dident seam to have a problem with it. I will see if i can find the place it has a big parking lot they wont require insurance because you can get very nice shots even from the parking lot and its not to far of a drive for us all. I'll update when I find the place. Its been a few years since I have been there.
The other place i was thinking of is keystone helicopter. I know a few of the securety gaurds there and i think they would let a photo shoot outside of the gates to the heli yard slide.

Ohh nights after the bar at that place were a trip. But yead sadley this place has been cleared for demolition. Notice how all the treesin the area have been knocked down to clear way for demo vehicals. This place does not have adiquet parking but the house behind your caddy in the one picture has enough parking around it and we could take photos there.

There's 2 or 3 abandoned factories next door to my job.
Maybe not so abandoned. Not sure.
4301 Wissahickon Ave, Philadelphia, PA.
Look at Midvale Steel (my building is the bigass one directly to the right of it) and Altomare Precast.
Most likely, if it were to be at or IN Midvale Steel, my guess is that SEPTA owns it.

I have some ideas of locations in South Philadelphia.
1.
2254 Weccacoe Ave # 1, Philadelphia, PA. It is a public street surrounded by old factories one 1 side. You can search it on Google street view.
http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=christmas+decorations+store+south+philadelphia&fb=1&gl=us&hq=christmas+decorations+store&hnear=south+philadelphia&ei=uV4BS7DNG4OyngeM6tgR&sa=X&oi=local_group&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CBYQtgMwAA
2. The Philadelphia Naval Shipyard http://www.navyyard.org/
This is a location of mixed industrial and corporate park. I am pretty sure that most of the campus is open to the public and accessible from Broad Street past the Wachovia Center.
I am trying to gauge the interest of these locations. If any of the people from this thread who want to get together to shoot some pictures at these locations let me know. I can go scout both and try to get some pictures and share these. These are realy close to my house and am not sure if the others would be able to get to these locations. Let me know.

Naval yard is not open to allowing people to come in. I do work in there, I have to meet my escort who driver ahead of me, show them ID, then they let me in. They do have some open events time to time, but they arent going to let a bunch of cars in.

I am just curious. So every day when you go to work, a security person drives ahead of you to your parking area? Does that happen for everyone who works at that location?

I don't work there everyday, once every few weeks. I am an electrical engineer for computer rooms and there are a few data centers back in there. So I meet with my point of contact outside of the gate who works there daily and has a badge. He tells the guard behind him that I am working with him, when I pull up the copy my idea, tag my tag number then let me in,

I'm sorry, I have been extremely busy all week with interviews. Since you guys all live around these areas, you should pick a final destination that would be appealing. I can't drive down to Philly to check out places to shoot, and go back dwn to shoot. If you can let me know what works for the majority, I'm willingto come down and photograph.
If I get lucky tomorrow or before thanksgiving I will checck out rute 248, if not, we can get a census as to where the best spot can be from you guys down that area.
