View Full Version : I feel bad for Maserati Quattroporte owners....

Twice I've seen Maserati Quattroportes at gas stations around here and both times I almost told the owner that it was the nicest new Buick I've ever seen. The first time I saw one and though it was a Buick was the first time I saw one in person, but to see one a second time and think its a Buick, well it makes me wonder who left Buick to work for Maserati? If you don't see the badges or put Buick badges on it, I doubt many peole could tell the difference when taking a quick look at the car.

Anyone else think they look like Buicks from a distance and form the side?

I can really see a grandapa drivign this fine vehicle.

Just wait till he jumps on the throttle as he pulls away. You'll be able to hear the un-Buickness.

I'll tell you what. It's his/her problem for spending that much money. Maserati's are nice but for that much money I could find something much better I bet.

Uhh..... Regardless of how it looks, its still a Maserati.......and not a buick. I personally have never had ur issue of confusing it with buicks at all. And having rided in one, there absolutely no mistaking it for some POS GM crap. U have that wail coming from the Ferrari V8 the whole time, and the interior smells of actual fine Italian cow hides, not some bull**** fake pleather they put in buicks. It also happens to be my favorite lux sedan, cuz its a maserati, and its much more exclusive than normal BMWs and Benzs.

I love Maser QPs, and theyre much more sleek and beautiful than anything Buick has ever, or will ever make.......and alot faster too.

u can deff find something "better" but can u find something that is truely as good?

the QP is the whole package. Its not the fastest, the best on gas, or the most reliable. But it not everyone has one like they do an S class or a 7 series or an LS460. they have that italian style and flare, the exhaust note is amazing (much better than any of the germans) and u have a much prettier car in my opinion as well. so over all, id take this for sure over any of the normal big lux cars. And id have a big decision to make b/w a QP and a Panamera Turbo.

Go drive one then try to tell us you think its a Buick.

And ndubz idk where you live but Maserati's around my area are just as common as 7 series and benz's.

god damnit. note the time people. im agreeing with Ndubz, though not as vehemently. if you ever have the chance to drive a quattraporte vs other cars in that price range, its a whole lot more engaging. i think its better to look at too

I see them around my area, but id say theyre as common as the BMWs and Benz's in the same price range (the S600 and AMGs, and the 760li, etc) but I see a ****load more 750s and S550s than I do maseratis. A guy in the neighborhood next to me has one and theres a few more around town, but i wouldnt say their as common as the normal german lux cars at all.

I brought this same thing up on another automotive forum recently and several people said when they first saw the Quattroporte they thought it was a buick too. Basically the consensus was that for an expensive Italian car, the styling is very conservative and it doesn't stand out.

Look at the Buick Lucerene. Similar roof line. Similar window shapes for the windows on the sides, similar 10 spoke wheels, port holes on the fenders. Imagine that you are looking at it with two gas pumps between you and the car and it does look a lot like a Buick.

I'm not saying it sounds or handles or drives like a buick, but it does have a lot of simialr styling. The car was already there when I pulled in and I left before it did, so I didn't hear it. When you are looking at the car through several gas pumps across a gas station it does look rather Buick like.

I've seen a few of these on 295 - ACEx and specifically there is always a blue one that gets on about rancocas/38 area.

The only thing it shares with the Buick is the sedan and port holes. I try to rub it out to the blue one, but that dam construction below haddonfield screws things all up. Would I buy one if I could? I would definitely test drive it.

The stance is not similar at all, the maser is so much sleeker and prettier. The buick looks fat and cheap by comparison. The only similarity is the portholes on the side.....

So, by ur logic, this looks like a maserati too:

Dodge stratus (for those who DONT know)

and HOLY ****!!!!! Its a maserati spyder.....O wait, no, Its just a miata.....my bad, sometimes i cant tell

Relearn the definition of similar slapshot. What similarities do all these cars have in common? What differences do they have?

In a good ammount of foreign countries it is a big deal to own a Buick you have arrived if you got a Buick.

I think the Masarati is just another overpriced sedan. Would rather get a bunch of GM or Ford cars than that.

actually i see the similarity and it loosk like shyt regardless of the specifications and price tag of the vehicle at least in this model

but

http://www.auto123.com/ArtImages/104994/maserati-quattroporte-gt-s.jpg
this quattorporte looks a lot sleeker however and more like the ones i see on the road which do not look like buicks

the difference in bumper curviture, grill set up and rims really show the difference

yea but those are all 3rd world ****holes where they dont have anything nicer than a buick or a lincoln....they never even heard of the baller status that is "Maserati (spoken in a thick italian accent)" This is the first world son, and buicks are mediocre at best here.

One of my regular customers has the other one (I forget what it's called). He let me rev it and holy **** it sounds like sex. I'll never mistake it for a Buick, but I think my other customer's new M3 sedan looks better.

at a certain angle and distance, it does look like a buick, I hate it when ppl mistaken cars for something.

I remember when a customer told me that my ford probe was awesome....then I told them its a rx7

GM sold twice as many Buicks in China than they did in the US. I wouldn't consider China a 3rd world country. But you will probably disagree since you are a toolbox.
