If anyone is around the area (Millville, NJ), stop by the track to say hi. I'm gonna be running the DILYSI MX-5 cup car. It's not a big event, its pretty much me renting the cup car for a few lap sessions so if you want to come watch, feel free to stop by.

hey john, which session are you doing? intermediate, advanced? or are they making you do the novice session? i got a buddy of mine doing a session for Dilysi as well. novice group first but will move forward.

I met with Pete again this past weekend, i love the orange one.

After talking to Pete, he recommends starting at novice level and depending on what my times are, I can move up to intermidiate. I'm pretty sure novice is not where I'm at, however learning the car in the first session will help a lot when being on the track with passing allowed.

I know the track and I'm familiar with road courses, hopefully I adapt to the car quick and have a awesome day.

Is your friend running the same day?

i'm going to be glued to the computer screen trying to memorize the track since i've never been there. and reading this book i've had sitting on my book shelf... http://www.amazon.com/Going-Faster-Mastering-Race-Driving/dp/0837602262 friend of mine bought it for me a few years back and i haven't had a reason to really read it.

figure it'll be good to learn some vocab and get a better understanding of the basics before i hit the track.

i'll be there this friday

I don't know how old you are or what experience you have but learning a track is not that hard. My first time at thunderbolt yea I was kinda nervous while having other cars at the track at the same time with passing allowed, but after the first 3 laps, I learned the course and it became easy and addicting. I am going to say though, the first time your at the track and there's a faster car in your mirror, don't panic, just let them go by. Also in the first couple laps, don't try to go the fastest possible, instead go at your own rhythm so you can learn how your car handles the turns. Some turns come up real quick and not knowing the track will make you miss the turn or spin out.

What event is being held this Friday?

this will help you learn the track also

keep an open eye for turn at 1:33 it comes up real quick so slow down lol, just giving you some pointers.

26, i've got very little experience. two "srt track experience" events, two autocrosses, handful of times at the drag strip (only worth mentioning due to efficient shifting haha)

I looked over the rental agreement. the only thing i'm worried about is over revving or smashing the car lol. but at 156whp i'm not nervous about either of those things. I'm confident in my abilities, but not overly confident.

I know i'll be fine, but i want to study the track a bit so i know whats coming up and get an idea of the race line before sitting down

Looking forward to having you Scapegoat!

I assume this is Pete?

This is Ken, with the card troubles.

I had a minor heart attack today when i was told i couldn't have off tomorrow... then we had a meeting and i learned what the freak out was about. two projects are due mid/late next week that may or may not be ready for me to start tomorrow.

total time for me to do them should be less than 3 hours... 2 at most. so, because people can't manage their **** i nearly get denied having tomorrow off (though i would have called out sick)

fortunately, i do have off tomorrow... i'll see you bright and early at 7:30 am :(

I might show up to just photograph some cars.

How much is it to spectate?

The track likes to get $25 for lunch, but it's free to spectate. Make sure to find us in the garage if you come out.

How was it, what did your lap times look like?

Scapegoat
11-09-2009, 11:00 AM
that was a blast. total for the day is a touch over a grand if you take the optional insurance on the car.

I have no idea what my lap times were. I do know it would have been better than whatever it was if i didn't keep getting stuck behind porsches ALL day in the turns...
