so some of you guys are telling me an out of the box, 450-470whp, 3263lb, 200+ mph, low 11 second, V10, 6 speed 9000rpm redline car, is not worth triple digets?
LOL
right. not to mention carbon brakes.
But they can charge 1.3 million for a 4500lb car with 1000hp... what because it runs high 9s? You could buy this new car, put a little money into it and come in just as fast for less money.
I think its cool lookin...

Isn't Jordan's car 975hp to the wheels and he's only asking less than half of $100,000? Lol
Looks like a hybrid of a GTR and Genesis up front, with the lines of a G35, with a lil' R8 thrown into the tush. And I don't even understand what's going on by the back portion of the side windows, with that little wave-lookin' thing. It really disrupts the flow. Under the tail lights are a mess. The three exhaust tips made me LOL.
Other than that, looks pretty nice.
No comment on the price. Not worth commenting on.

Production is limited to 500 cars...that's why it costs 375k.
The only things I don't like are the black mesh under the tail lights and the exhaust tips...but I could easily live with both seeing how the rest of the car is so strikingly gorgeous. It's weird saying that about a Lexus.

You guys are quick to speak of the price, but from what I have seen so far this car has been compared to the McLaren F1 and Pagani Zonda when it comes to performance. To me, even a $400k price tag is a steal compared to the $1M+ that you would have to shell out to own one of those other two.
I won't make a final judgment on the price until there is more information out about this car and what it can do.

Consider the field of critics you are dealing with....We aren't so quick to sign a check to produce the stats that these cars produce. We rather start with a viable platform and build on to it. (from an engineering vs. cost standpoint it makes sense). All these are a stupid proof "supercars", that any wanker off the street with a good enough credit score or bank roll can buy. Plus I could NEVER justify blowing that much cash on a car even if I HAD the money. $100K can build you a NASTY ass car period. One off parts and etc. And also the reason you pay so much is exclusivity and the R&D.
So WHY spend 100K plus on a chromed up toyota? or steroided out 350Z....(sorry GTR lovers)

I don't care what anyone says. That car is ****ing sick. And im sure 99.99998&% of us couldn't afford that, let alone a 100k car. So, who gives a **** if its 100k, 400k or 8 trillion. Either way we can't afford it. . .well, I could in Forza :D
In that range you are looking at what. . Ferrari's, Lambo's, Bentley's, Porsche Carrera GT's, SLR, etc. All over priced "super cars" that are ****ing bad ass. Again. All cars that just about none of us could afford. I like it, if I had the bank to even consider buying it. I would. Along with many other cars. But. . that's not going to be happening anytime soon.

I should've added PSEUDO in front of exclusivity. It's not exclusive if anyone with a bank roll can have it.
Plus, it's more exclusive to have a ONE off to YOUR specs then just buying a supercar.

So what? Doesn't mean that people that actually have the money would want to spend what they believe to be 250K more than they should? It's like if Honda would have priced the scratched V10 NSX at 400K. It really just isn't worth that much to most people who will rather put the money into a prestigious car name rather than a Lexus or Acura or GM or whatever.

Well, Lamborghini put some crazy bodywork on a "regular" Murceilago, added 700,000 to the price and called it a Reventon. They sold out before the car was even commissioned.
The Ford GT is an interesting case too. Original msrp was about 120k. Ford feared they would alienate customers and the car would flop with a higher price tag, even though it performs as well as, if not better than many, more expensive exotics. When they arrived at dealerships, customer interest pushed the price up another 100k, and they still sold.
So can Lexus sell an amazing performing exotic for 400k? Yep. If the car is crap they would have trouble, but they did their homework. They had test mules as early as 2004. It's been around the Nurburgring 100s, maybe 1000s of times. You better believe for 400k and 6 years in the making this car will be great....and it's mad JDM, yo. :)

10-22-2009, 07:15 PM
I've seen concepts of this car for many many years. And they always displayed it at pebble beach where the right people did take a high interest in it. They will easily sell all 500 coups and all 300-500 verts they will build. It's an exclusive car with huge quality. It has what is basically an F1 V10 in it. It sounds ill. It's very pretty. It's a solid supercar/GT. And will compete well with the Ferrari 458, mclaren 12C, Aston DBS, gallardo, sls amg, etc. 400k seems high but depending on how the press recieves it, that price could go up due to demand pull inflation like most of these supercars do.
And make no mistake, Toyota developed this chassis for the next gen supra, the lfa is just it's stunning entrance but I'm almost 100% sure the main purpose for this whole chassis is for the supra reincarnation. Expect it next year. Probly with around 400bhp or so. And I really hope they keep the motor based on the 2jz with some modern tweaks. A v8 would be a mistake.

Another thing about this car that no one has mentioned will be the next step in the Lexus red-carpet dealer experience. When this car has to be serviced the car will be picked up at the customers home in a fully enclosed trailer designed specifically for the car. It will be taken to one of the Lexus regional offices and a select few tech's will only be able to work on them. I believe you also have to own two previous Lexus's to even be considered to purchase one. They had a rolling chassis last time I was at school, it looked pretty insane. 400k is a ton of money though

They blended function and form on this one, I think it looks awesome. If it's going to be that expensive, it better look awesome/extreme/different. You clearly have no idea of the value of half the parts on this car to price it at $100k. Not even counting the design aspect of it.
