I'm looking to get coilovers for my car. I'm trying to decide between the tein ss or the mopar stage 3 coilovers. Can all the other srt owners give me some input. this car will be mostly used at the track.

srt42envy just put tein superstreets on, as far as I know he is satisfied with them.

Which tracks do you intend to drive on? This would help/enhance the discussion.
IMO:
Road courses: good step in right direction
Drag strip: why do you need adjustable hide heights for rapidly driving only 1350 ft?

i'd mostly be going to atco, but might go to cecil once in awhile b/c they have more events happening there, and i would talk to ray at revitup but it takes him forever to get back to me

Copy.
You need some other SRT4 drag racers to chime in here...about their personal experiences with both setups.
Are you looking to swap springs when you run on the track? Change ride heights? Adjust dampening/compression? I'm curious to know how much suspension tuning is required for drag racing-since I don't know for sure.

IMO adjustability isn't THAT important in drag racing - i would suggest finding a proven spring/shock combination and go with that - coilovers are better suited to road course or autocross events, as courses vary widely and may need huge differences in setup to be sucessful.
of course, I'm not a drag racer, and don't have much experience with SRT-4's so hopefully someone with more experience will be able to chime in. I'll talk to some of my SRT-4 drag racing friends and see if they have any insight.

the reason i am looking at tein ss or s3 coilovers are b/c you can change the height on the spot and it can adjust the dampening/compression.

That's what I was trying to imply. There are other avenues I would approach if I were to drag race: with the given budget for CO's.

-Just help me understand (since I've never drag-raced) why you would NEED the adjustability for either dynamic for 1350 ft at a time.
Perhaps if you could tell me what settings you are trying to achieve-would help me understand. :( TIA.

There are differences between tracks, and environmental conditions that could be tuned for.. but the difference between a "good" setup and a "perfect" setup is likely to be less than a tenth.

Well i would say that the mopars are the best bet since they are what??? 32 way adjustable or something???? Its really a question you should ask over at the car specific forums. Srtsyndicate.com has been known to fight over peoples setups and its filled with experienced tuners.
My opinon??? I like the mopar setup and the few drag racers i know and conversate with have all given it rave reviews. Now thats not to say that tein is gonna be worse or better, just that ive heard only good things about the mopar s3 coilovers. Its all opinons really, id decide on two factors. What kinda loot are you willing to drop on them? And do you think your dealership would be difficult if you were to go another route other than mopar. They would be my two main concerns.

the reason i want one of these setups is b/c i heard its good to raise your backend up to prevent squating on launches

Oh hell yeah it is... you just crank them up and then lock them so you have no play, the strut wont move needless to say its bumpy.
I wanna make wheelie bars for our cars.

nothing can beat the stage 3 coilovers imo.
DO NOT GET THE TEINS! ive heard nothing but horrible things from people using them.

Henry lets make some wheelie bars for the sart... ill work on that **** how nice would that be tho... you basically have them lock in, which lifts(**** is not allowed!!! the rear end up forcing all the weight to the front. Possible??? You could just connect to the rear there is tons of room there.

your suspension on launches is just as important as your suspension for turning. eibach offers drag springs just for track cars using hard launches.
either way the suspension on the srt sucks and anything you do to it will net you big gains

-will it stay raised up when you drive down the 1/4 mile? won't that be unstable?

-henry 'important' doesn't explain to me why or how. please explain. thanks.
-limited weight transfer and traction is important.
-ride height adjustability: that's where I need an explanation
Sorry if I sound like I'm busting balls here...just want a better explanation that what I can come up with. tia

i dont think you actually have to raise the backend,.. just adjust it to the stiffest setting and your gold.
i have the ipp full adjustable ones and i love them. havent messed with adjusting them at the track yet..
mopars are very nice no doubt if you can justify an extra 500-700 bucks or whatever they cost over the ipp's
Fourbanger
01-05-2006, 11:32 PM
Ive also heard that the ipp's are bueno. Its all about the money in the end.

The traction bar is probably the best investment if you want to get your launches w/o wheel hop and thats all you care about.
max2k1
01-06-2006, 12:57 AM
i think the solid motor and tranny mounts cut down more wheel hop than the traction bar, but i think the traction bar is a good thing to have as well. The new IPP's that should be out in february from what Ray said on the other forums. Somebody also made the comment that the will be 64 way adjustable, but im not positive on that

the ipp's are great, we sell teins and they are great too. as a neon drag racer i think the ipps are the best due to the higher spring rates which keeps the car from squatting on high rpm launches. we are actually going to be installing them on the revitup 1st gen neon drag car own and driven by steve lockett.

I just installed the Teins and there great, i dont know why you say that, the adjustability is good, easy install, ride is almost like stock and no more body roll, car feel alot better. I havent heard any noises coming from them like i hear from the IPP's, they are definitely worth the money.
