View Full Version : WRX and Sti drivers giving the peace sign.

In the past two weeks i have driven on the same road or crossed paths with a few other WRX's and Sti's. As we saw each other the other driver flashed me the peace sign with their fingers. I returned the gesture. It was a friendly exchange between two fellow Suby drivers. I also made the same exchange with a driver of a brand new EVO. Is this something that others have experienced?

That was me, but it wasn't a peace sign, you cut me off.

Just Messing, it wasn't me but I do give a nod, peace sign, or headlight flash to any tuner / modified car I see whether its a evo, 240, Honda, Subaru, etc..

Seems more like he's seeing if its a trend that all car guys give the wave and not looking for the guy who waved at him specifically.

see thats cool, cause honda guys either way to cool or if you look at their cars they think your going to steal their car to do this.

Last saturday, it happened to me as i was driving on Rt130 in Westville, NJ wth a EVO. Then 10 minutes later it occured on Rt 42 North as i was getting on the Walt Whitman Bridge with a WRX which had a NY State License plate. Then today I was heading north on the NJ turnpike and getting on the Garden State Parkway north. It was random so i thought to ask.

It happened a few other times but i dont remember where i was driving.

Really though, I think its just throwing your hand up to say whats up, like a nod. I realized that sometimes when I do it I just put a couple fingers up which could be taken as a peace sign instead, but its just a "yo".

yep that happens ofter to me too. its just a nice gesture of respect i guess

i get it from the normal "tuner" guys, the mustang guys, the dubbers, and i even get it from the OLD ppl too. lol. i think its because i got a v6 sticking out a civic hood n my steering wheel is on the wrong side.haha

I give the "yo" signs all the time (peace sign, head not, or a quick flash of the beams) to any enthusiast looking subaru (cuz theres some clueless ass people who drive old wrx wagons and probly dont even know what a turbo is). I also do it to evo owners, and have a great return rate from them lol. And various other types of enthusiast cars (exotics included lol) with decent return rates.

I find I dont do it to ricers or too many mustangs (except the people i actually know) cuz the mustang crowd is 80% toolbags and ricers.....ha....well I dont consider them enthusiast lmao.

Most hondas and Vdubbers, proceed to do something retarded after i give them the wave so ive been cutting back there.

It does however kinda piss me off when someone doesnt return it, especially someone in another Sti or madded wrx, cuz I know they both know what theyre driving and about the subie fam so theres no excuses there. ( tho most sti that dont return it are bone stock)

Yes it is the "subie wave". I don't know why we use two fingers—it's a natural way to keep a finger on the wheel and still wave maybe? Like everyone else said it is a nod to a fellow subie modder. I don't tend to wave to the 80-year old in the outback, because he's probably not going to wave back haha. Nothing irritates me more than waving to a sweet subie and not getting a returned wave! So next time you get one, give a nod back :)

And most males driving <05 GTs think they have the fastest cars in the universe. Mustang owners FTL. I gave up waving a long time ago, no one ever waves back.

jeez i was kidding ya noodles haha. iv got waves from other hondas. and i wave to them.. no fingers. although every morning i wave to ekcoupeboosted and he never waves back for some reason

Yeah the SRT Wave is very popular too, whenever hte SRT is out and another one passes 9 times out of 10 i get a wave.

I think it's more like .. a car enthusiast wave anymore, not just isolated to Subies. Though of course, you're more prone to give 'em to fellow drivers of your own make.

I think its isolated to certain "car" groups. Not all car enthusiast have the common courtesy to bother waving, however cars within a certain genre; ie- cars of the same brand will generate a wave or some kind of gesture.

I almost ALWAYS give honda kid's the middle finger, instead of my "srtwave" but its just my way of acknowledging them. :cool:

i'm not looking forward to 2011 gt owners with their 400bhp 5.0...

it really is a shame that most mustang owners are douchebags b/c they think their stock car is fast as shiiiiit. gonna be worse when the coyote engine drops :-/

god, i'm really not looking forward to the v6 owners w/ their 315 bhp :o hopefully i'll have a s/c before the new engines hit the streets

Not all honda guys, I give the peace sign/ thumbs up/wave/hi beam to any car thats nice and clean whether it be other hondas,vw,evo,sti,mustangs,ect...

In my 3000GT I get waves, headlight flashes, head out the window, people jumping out of the car and running back to ask me if it's a VR4, etc. In the M3 I don't get any love from other M3 drivers. But m3 drivers are cocks :-P
