I recently purchased a Nx N-tercooler chiller kit for my wrx. I will be placing it on the front mount. Now the question is, where can I get the bottle filled? Do I need some sort of permit? What is the cost of getting the actual bottle filled? Thanks for your time.

Yo, I heard that Turbo Trix had a filling station at the shop. I mean they have many cars on Nitrous already. Suave, can you call up Mark or Keith to see if they fill bottles, if they don't ask them where they get them filled.

Thanks Matt. Where is this located in L-town? Do you have a phone number or adress? You gotta show me where it is one day this week.

ps-pm me with the name and adress, its against forum rules to post names and numbers of shops that are not registered vendors of this forum.

Why not try some Co2 out, it will do the same thing at less of a cost?

I was thinking the same thing, Yea its the nx N-tercooler chiller so it can be co2 also right? I know my friend went to a paintball store before and they wouldn't fill it for some reason. Do you know where I can get it filled with co2, and again just the name, no numbers or adresses, do to forum rules.

I don't know where you can get it filled. I know there was a plumbing supply store on Route 206 in Jersey that could do it but I don't even remember the name. I'm sure if you call around someone will point you in the right direction. I know some swimming pools use Co2 to control PH. Maybe ask Poolmike that is on this forum?

In jersey you can get a permit easily to transport. I think its different in PA. Although I was pulled over once and the state trooper saw the bottle. In the end he asked if it was empty and I said yes so there was no ticket. He said theres only a law about transporting it, and nothing about being hooked up to your car.

Ok no problem. Do you know where I can get a permit at. I mean its not really nitrous for the acutal motor, its just the nx n-tercooler kit for the i/c, it just sprays -50 air on the intercooler.

It doesnt matter. You are still transporting it.

You should call a speedshop and ask where to get the permit.

Just off topic for a second.. Are you heatsoaking the whole IC? Do you have any temp sensors in the intake tract to monitor the actual effect that kit will have?

nah, no temp sensors, lol. If anything it will be for looks, car is a show car with perfomace lol, I guess a nice street car. Anyways, if it does anything then fine, if not it looks cool and will give me points at shows.

Don't fill it with CO2.

I'm pretty sure you can get a nitrous bottle filled at Raceway Park...if you can wait till spring.

Off topic but u know what sucks i cant do my cams at the same time as the clutch because they dont want me to dyno it on the same day, they say to break the clutch in first but i got the appointment on monday to do the clutch and then next tuesday to put the cams in and have the car tuned, which kinda sucks but whatever i got the cams they said i should be putting down at least 365hp with the cams but most likely more than that keepin my fingers crossed

jay only did 340whp with the 280 cams, front mount, arp head studs, dnp tubular manifold, o2 housing, so how do you think you will have more???

silver05bullet
01-03-2006, 06:14 PM
05 EVO baby and diffrent cams, we have a bigger turbo well the hotside at least 10.5, as opposed to the 03, 04 evos and at the same time the tuning has changed too

By the way front mount is not needed on the evo till about 450+ hp
the manifold not sure about DNP but it doesnt make much diffrence, head studs are just head studs no power there, and his car was obviously not tuned that great he said it was stalling out all the time and it idled sooooo lopey

i would HIGHLY reccomend filling the tank with CO2 as opposed to nitrous. I used to have an N-tercooler setup which i built & then sold to matt (Sincere) for use on his STI. CO2 is ALOT cheaper to fill up than nitrous - works just as well for cooling - has no issues with transport or use - and is more readily availible. just check the yellow pages for a welding supply shop or gas supply company. I used MAC gas supply located in willow grove pa.

it costs $10 or less to fill a 10LB tank with CO2

it can cost $40 or more to fill a 10LB tank with nitrous.

also check beer distributors - they use bottled CO2 for beer-meisers and many times will have CO2 filling stations - or the location & info of one nearby.

With CO2 you just have to be a little more selective when you use it.

If you spray the IC 2 seconds before you launch the area around the intake will be saturated in CO2 which results in less O2 getting into the engine and you'll lose a bit of HP initally. On the flip side, if you spray it with nitrous the engine will ingest a bit and you'll make a bit more power during the launch in addition to the cooler IC.

Granted the difference is maybe a tenth of a sec. at the track, but if you want the best time slips an extra $30 could be worth it.

ok so you are saying it will have the same effect as the Nitrous would. Now with c02, you dont have to have a permit do you? I dunno of any places around here that would have c02 fill up stations, do you have any you can reccomend?

NO2 has THE SAME effect as nitrous for a fraction of the cost. and on the WRX, the IC is so far from the intake that i cant imagine a loss of HP. NO permit is required to either use - or carry CO2 in a vehicle so no worries there. the only problem will be when you have an ignorant cop who will say its nitrous & then you will have to explain to him thats its CO2.

like i said - check the yellow pages, and beer distributors for filling locations. I know of a place, but its in willow grove pa - which isnt that close to jersey.
