anyone know of a way to tune an older 1.8 8v with just strait digifant? I'm sure I could wire up a piggyback but I'd rather not

By piggyback you mean that plugin thing like the old CIS controller "fuel enrichment module". You need to call Jeff at TT and tell him you want his chip and cam combo. These are dyno proven for 10-15 hp w/ an exhaust. Digi works well by just specing it to the Bentley. And remember 6 degrees on the timing NO MORE than that also the timing must be set at 2500 rpm's NOT AT IDLE. Vortex has a link in the 8V forum in the FAQ's that covers the digi system.

well I've been considering putting some low comp pistons in an obd1 aba bottom end and then run the 8v head. Maybe put like 8-9 lbs of boost on it. I don't have a problem with stayin n/a but I've got all this 8v stuff laying around and I'm not made of money. And i'm pretty good fabricator and a damn good weldor, just don't wanna start playing around with some stuff only to find out I can't even tune it. And I'm just plain digifant, everything I've found with tuning and what not is only for digi II engines.

So you have a Digi I setup? Out of a Corrado?

That is called Digifant II. Digi I is Corrado and Boost friendly. Thats why I asked. Your best bet is to try to score a Digi I setup, they're pretty cheap. I'm not sure how Digi II will respond to boost, Vortex probably has some info.
