Anyone heard that Mitsubishi is bring a new "B Segment" car to the US?

It's going to be marketed under the "Colt" name tag and looks pretty sick, it's definitely drawn inspiration from the most Current Lancer and Evo-X. Not to mention that there's already pictures of one in Ralliart Trim which leads me to believe it may come in Turbo (And AWD?) sometime down the line.

Maybe it's finally time for a 2-Door Hatchback Evo?

JM, maybe it's time for you to ditch the idea of building a 4G63 Colt and start saving some coin for one of these guys? We all know if it comes with a Turbo variant that you'll be able to net 50hp with Bolt-ons and a Reflash, then on top of that add some more low and some cool wheels and you'll have a car thats hard to beat - with a warranty.

Didn't that come over to the states as a Saturn? I noticed in the URL for the photo it has "VXR" after Astra. Does this denote some sort of performance trim? The car you posted appears to be a lot lower, has larger wheels, bigger brakes, and different aero than the Saturn variant.

Honestly, I could see a small turbo B Segment car like this one undercutting the SRT-4 and Cobalt SS because it's presumably smaller and lighter. Currently the Caliber SRT-4 is the Pig of the group. (And we all know the Cobalt SS is the "Fastest FWD Car around the Ring")

the opel astra and saturn astra dont share the same powertrain. the opel vxr has 250iirc and the gay saturn has 145?

let me go a little more into that.

i meant the new saturn models. 05 or 06+ are almost all identical to an opel model. opel is extremely old, much older then saturn, and probably older then GM.

speaking of chrysler, i think its funny when you see a caliber srt4, and someones like "oh it has a neon engine" when in reality its a pt cruiser turbo engine that was put into a neon, then the caliber. those calibers in black are awesome. i would def trade my X for one.

What are you going to put them on? A honda? I think just about anything else (That isn't FWD or an MR2) would need a spacer.

Yup. It has been around for about the same amount of time as the 4G63. I think the 4G63 was around about a year or so, until the 3SGTE came out in the WRC Celica. The 3SGTE is so awesome that the Castrol Supra uses it over the 2JZ.

Depends on what you're doing, how long you're doing it, and what you're doing it in.

I can go in there pretty much anytime I need to while I'm at work, I'll actually be back over there sometime today to inspect some stuff. The big issue is that there's a security guard station at the gate so they may or may not ask you for ID. Once you get past that though, it's just a matter of driving around to the Automatic gate.

PM "Red3kgt", that's my brother - you've probably met him before. He knows of a private facility near our parent's house that's run by some very nice people, who aren't too harsh on modified vehicles.

I think the cost for inspection is ~$80 to $100, IIRC.

I kinda have a love - hate relationship with my E46.

Even though there are awesome examples out there of cool E46's, to make one costs way too much money. Once I get my subframe checked and I'm out of warranty I'm going to do some suspension on my car and take my 18 x 9's and go for some baller fitment. Right now, for stock suspension, my rear fitment is pretty spot on and my fronts are sunken by about 8mm. If I drop about 1 inch or so and get a front spacer I'll have damn near perfect fitment.

So i went right into the back of her :) Allstate fixed it up no problem. That would be me, and the adventures of the beater saturn, that was actually just supposed to be a puddle blast but unexpectedly turned into water forging, pick up towed me out i bought a spark plug socket pulled the plugs cranked all of the water out of there bought some new plugs with the money of the returned socket plus a dollar or two. ran like a champ, actually now that i think about it, i believe it went to hainesport that night to get rallied a bit... the joys of owning a beater. But yea clearing that up, that was me not steve, make sure you do your homework next time buddy :thumbup:

Your argument is a valid and good (i think you are missing a word here but the lack of capitalization in addition to the over usage of "u" in place of "You"(not sure why you felt the need capitalize the letter Y) makes your argument weaker in addition to making you look bad. (taking a shot at someone for the way they type on a forum really only makes you look bad )

May I also suggest that we all type in a very formal manner in this thread? It really helps in getting your point across while also being very good practice for those of us that need good written communication skills.

Than you came back and told everyone how awesome you were, and how you went street racing. Then, when everyone gave you flack, who backed you up? Good old motordouche. Suggestion #1) Don't buy a modified Rotary, unless it has a substantial amount of information about the motor specs and maintenance - ignore this if you plan on swapping/rebuilding the motor.

Suggestion #2) Buy or Trade for an S13 or S14. It's by far the eaisest platform to learn how to drift in, in addition to having one of the longest useful lifespans of an Chassis in the drift world. (Easy to learn in, inexpensive to build, still competitive at the highest level). You could probably trade straight up for an S13 with a KA and some suspension goodies.

General Rant:

The whole, "Hey I want to build something that's not an S13 or S14 for drifting" mentality is kind of dumb for a lot of people, IMO. If you're on a budget, build an S-Chassis and then sell it or trade it down the road. They are by far the cheapest platform for drifting out there. (I made this mistake when I bought the FC. I was like "I'm going to build something that's not an S13 or S14 because I'm awesome and I have a good job". When in reality, I should've said "I can barely drive, and I'm still on a budget so let me build a clean S-Chassis".)

Be different with Style and Driving, a chassis is nothing more than a tool used to make your mark.

Sure there is, the National Solo and Pro Solo tour, it's the most popular stepping stone into wheel to wheel motorsport racing and has produced countless extremely talented road racers. To run competitively on the national tour you have to be able to read a course design from walking it and then go drive it at 10/10ths without making any mistakes. Everything is so close together that one mistake screws up every single thing you do after that which forces you to be perfect every time.

I'll have too look into it and see if the comparision would be valid. I always thought of the Pro-Level of Auto-X not actually being Auto-X but the Graduation to some other form of Road Racing.

Honestly though, Look at all of the people who pilot S-Chassis's and call themselves "Drifters". Half of them never progress beyond the beginner level, fewer still move on beyond intermediate, fewer still move on beyond advanced, and the fewest of all make it to the Professional level.

Sure, you could be the kid who "Drifts a Miata, an AE86, an S12, a Z31, a Z32, etc..." or you could be the kid who "Kills it in an S13 or S14."

Also, Look at people like Revgasm, BH, and Chobs. Each of them drives an S-Chassis, and each of their cars is unique and they all can drive. It's the best of both worlds.
