 I forget about this. Don't dealers have some kinda "bumper doctor" that they use to clean little scrapes and imperctions on bumpers? I'm looking for some info on it because I wanna get some imperctions fixed on a bumper I got. Hoping maybe a fellow TSTer can help me out here.

i know that some dealers do pdr (paintless dent removal) but im not sure if that works on body panels other than metal

This is not the exact setup used but an example of what they do.

To sum it up... they just prep it a bit to smooth it out and then shoot it with a cheap paint.

Dealers aren't looking to put a whole bunch of money into making the car look better. Just good enough to sell. The paint doesn't last all that long and starts to look like crap pretty fast but you get what you pay for....

I thought they use use that actually heats up the bumper and lets them buff it out? I could be wrong....I can't remember....getting old.

scooby,

my old roomate just opened a detailing shop in the Mt. Holly area. if there is still paint under the blemish then i'm pretty sure that he can work his magic.

PM me if you want his number.

bryanOh....this is the STI bumper I'm trying to swap for a WRX bumper. This bumper has a little road rash on the bottom but as a bonus I'm trading it with the splitters and fog covers.

It really all depends, I get cars like that all the time, people who have a little paint exchange or actually scratch. I always buff to make sure. bumpers being plastic make it a little easier to acheive better results bcause plastic heats up fast. You could even have it wetsanded. never let the dealer have his "paint" guy fix it though, you will be seeing primer in a year if you do.
